Please know that we recognize that change is hard. The level of stress is high. We are here to help in any way possible. Any change that we are making is intended to help our students get more support and guidance with their learning. Please be patient and continue to be flexible. We are all learning a lot together during these challenging times. During the first marking period, everyone did the best that they can and we will continue to do the best that we can for your child.
Starting Thursday, November 19, and continuing through January 29, we will be using the schedule shown below. ALL of our AMS students must follow the schedule to receive instruction. Attendance will be taken each hour of every day.
Please create a designated workplace for your student. It is best if your student works in the same place each day to signify to the brain that it is time for school. When you are planning for online learning at home, the students should have a place where, when their camera is on, only the wall behind them will show. It should also be a place where all of their school materials can be stored and organized. I also suggest that your student use headphones when participating during live online instruction so that any noise that is going on inside your house, doesn't distract the learning process of others.
Our plan during this time is to deliver online instruction similar to how it would look in a brick and mortar classroom. The teacher will teach a lesson for the first half of the class and then students will have time to work on the assignment, ask questions, get small group help as needed, work in groups, and receive feedback. Students should plan to stay in the "classroom" during the entire time unless they are dismissed by a teacher. This model will give kids more support, instruction, and time to get help while completing assignments.
Google Classroom will still be very important to check each hour. There will be announcements there. Materials that are needed for each lesson will also be posted there. Your student should check each classroom each day.
Please use ParentVUE to keep track of your child's grades and progress in each class. That is where accurate records are kept and grades are updated.
