Dragon Tales
Arcola's Weekly Newsletter For All Arcola Families
October 24, 2020
Good Afternoon Arcola Families!
As hard as it is to believe, we are in our last week of October. Our first semester is coming to an end, so please be sure to have any missing assignments turned in. You will be hearing from your child's teacher about the end of quarter parent/teacher conferences.
I am happy to introduce the newest member of our Arcola Community. Mrs. Nicole Seal has accepted our offer to be our third PE teacher. Nicole is excited to join our team and work with our students. Please give her a warm Dragon Welcome.
At the end of this week, please join us for our Book Character Halloween Parade! On Friday, October 30th members of our staff will be passing through all our Arcola Neighborhoods to say hello to our students! We invite you to safely stand along the parade route, make signs, wave flags, blow bubbles...anything to join in the fun! The parade route is listed below with estimated times, please be patient with us as we will be doing our very best to stay on schedule! Roary will be there!
WHEN VISITING ARCOLA-- INFORMATION FOR EVERYONE COMING TO THE SCHOOL
Access to schools is still extremely limited. All visitors must have an appointment and a photo ID. If you come to school to pick up supplies, a staff member will bring those supplies to you. To enter the building, ALL VISITORS (INCLUDING students) must complete the Covid Symptom Checker before entering the building. A QR code is posted at the school entrance so that you can easily access the Covid Symptom Checker. Staff is also required to complete this survey daily before they enter the building.
HYBRID LEARNING
We look forward to welcoming our Kindergarten, first and second graders who will be starting back to school on Tuesday, October 27th OR Wednesday, October 28th. By now I hope you have looked in your parentvue account for the specific days your child will be attending (either Tuesday and Thursday OR Wednesday and Friday.) Your busing information can also be found in your parentvue accounts. If you have not already done so, please complete the "transportation survey" found below. This information will be shared with your child's teacher who will be dismissing the students according to how each parent indicated they would be getting home (via, CASA, day care, car pool, or school bus.) This is very important information, providing your transportation plans for your child will dramatically reduce confusion during dismissal.
While we transition our Hybrid Students back to school, there will be a "HYBRID LEARNING" Section at the bottom of this newsletter that will have information important to families whose students are in school two days a week. If you are a hybrid family, please be sure to read through the HYBRID LEARNING SECTION for information and links that you will need as we proceed with our school year.
If you're looking for some family fun tonight, why not carve some pumpkins? The PTA is having a pumpkin contest and they have extended their entry deadline to tomorrow, October 25th. More details can be found below! Have fun, carve a dragon!
All my best-
Andrew Stevens
