CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL NEWS NOTES

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
It is important for parents to understand the policies and procedures at Christ the King School. I wish to take time to address them in News Notes, for I get more emails and phone calls about parents not following safety precautions during drop-off and pick-up than about any other topic. This year, Holly Reynolds and Vince Mongiardo with the help of many others, spent a day during the summer constructing a video about this topic. It is very informative, and we appreciate their help.
Please drop off students before you get to the door in the front. In the back, students should get out once you get to the sidewalk. In the back, do not walk across carline until all cars are stopped, and even then only cross at the designated crosswalk. Never pass another car anywhere in carline, and please enter and exit at the correct locations. If you are unsure of the correct entrance or exit locations, please watch the video or consult the diagrams included in the Parent/Student Handbook on RenWeb.
Some parents park illegally out on the street and away from the school and allow their children to walk to them. Parking illegally on the street causes problems for many of our neighbors and could put you and your children at risk. It is much safer for parents to go through carline instead of parking on the street.
Please use the line instead of parking on the street or throughout the neighborhood. If you are a new parent, I know some parents may have told you this is what they do, but this is unsafe. Please try our carline. No matter what time you get in carline, 2:45 or 3:10, your children will be in your car before 3:15.
I hope this information provides you with some understanding of our carline and helps the process go smoothly. You may view the carline video at https://youtu.be/RSme7eAUciM. Thank you for your support and understanding of our policies and procedures. Have a great day!

OKTOBERFEST FUN CONTINUES...
CKS IS COLLECTING CAPS FOR A BUDDY BENCH!
The Caps for Benches Program through Green Tree Plastics turns recycled plastic caps and lids into benches. Christ the King School is collecting plastic caps now. Any cap or lid that has the number 2, 4 or 5 in the recycling symbol is acceptable. These caps are on water bottles, juice bottles, Gatorade bottles, laundry detergent, ketchup, gelato, syrup, coffee cans, milk bottles and so many other containers. Middle school houses are paired up with elementary classrooms to compete for the most caps. The challenge is to collect 20,000 caps and get two benches. Start saving caps now. You’ll be doing a little bit to save the Earth, too! For more information visit http://ctkschool.net/cks/parents/webnotes.
