Mavericks Team Update

December 8, 2015

Class Information

Math-Students will complete their 2nd math i-ready diagnostic test for the year. This test can be taken at home ( if a student is absent today and/or tomorrow or does not complete the test in the next two days. This two-day test on the computer will assess the level at which the student is currently performing. The test is very important for many reasons. It not only shows the students progress in math this year, but high school counselors will use these scores to place students in their high school classes next year.

Math announcement: Today I am out of the building for Professional Development activities. My substitute is one who frequently substitutes in my classroom, other Mavericks classrooms, and around the building. Students know their expectations for completing work in the classroom and displaying the same behavioral expectations expected even when I am present. I will have access to email throughout the day.

Science-Today students completed their science benchmark for the district. We will have those results fairly soon and then we will compare with the students to see how far they've come since taking the pre-test benchmark. We will also set goals on areas that need improvement.

Social Studies-

English Language Arts - Today students will be going to the library to renew, check-in, or check out books. Students will also be completing their reading response sheet 5 in their Reading Journals, of which is an activity that requires students to think deeply about and make connections to the library book they are currently reading. I also had one-on-one discussions with each student about their current grade, what assignments are missing/can be redone, and their i-Ready Diagnostic scores; the i-Ready Diagnostic scores showed that students have been improving in their reading comprehension and vocabulary.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR ELA: All of my assignments are posted on E-Campus. The username is the student's ID number (lunch number) and the password is their birthdate (MMDDYYYY).
