Please join us this week at Long Valley Middle School for Back to School Night. We are happy to be able to return to an in person Back to School Night. You will be able to walk through your student's schedule to learn about their day at LVMS.

As a reminder, this is the final week for phone call attendance reporting and hand written notes for dismissals. Starting October 1st, all reporting of this information will be required to go through PickUp Patrol. If you require assistance with PickUp Patrol please contact our Main Office.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Back to School Night is scheduled for September 28th for 6th Grade and September 29th for 7th and 8th Grades at 7:00 PM each night.
PICK UP PATROL: By now, all families should have received information for PickUp Patrol. PickUp Patrol is LIVE and families should begin to use it for reporting absences, early dismissal, walkers, and late arrivals. More information included below!
STUDENT PICK UP AND DROP OFF PROCEDURES: Please closely review our student Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures. As a reminder, LVMS does not open to students until 8:30 AM. Unless a student is participating in an AM club, they will not permitted into the building prior to 8:30 AM. More information included below!
WINTER SPORTS UPDATE: Registration for Winter Sports (Boys and Girls Basketball) is now beginning! Physicals and Paperwork are due by October 21st at 2:30 PM. IINCOMPLETE AND LATE FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. More information included below!
MAP TESTING: This week all students grades 6-8 will take the district MAP testing. This is test that will be used to measure growth and student progress over the course of the school year. Students will be assessed in Mathematics and ELA in approximately 60 minute assessments.
All families should have received an invitation email to enroll in PickUp Patrol (email came directly from PickUp Patrol). If you have not already, please register for and create your account.
PICKUP PATROL IS CURRENTLY LIVE AND PARENTS ARE ALREADY ABLE TO UPDATE STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND PICK UP INFORMATION.
LVMS will utilize PickUp Patrol in the following ways:
- Reporting Student Absence from school (sick, doctors appointment, etc.)
- Reporting a student coming to school late
- Requesting to pick up a student early from school
- Giving permission for a student to walk home after school or NOT take the bus.
LVMS will continue to accept phone calls for absences / hand-signed parent notes for early dismissal and walking until October 1, thereafter all LVMS Parents/Guardians will be expected to enter ALL attendance information exclusively on PickUp Patrol.

Ski & Snowboard Club
An interest sign-up sheet will be posted outside of homerooms until 9/30. If you want to join or are just thinking it might be something you'd like to try, sign up. More details to follow in October!
Destination Imagination (DI)
Destination Imagination (DI) is a problem solving competition team that challenges students to think creatively and use their imagination to design a unique solution to a multi-tiered STEAM challenge. We have two teams of students from grades 6th through 8th. For more information about DI, look on Mrs. Bohrer’s website or stop by room 32. An informational meeting will be held for interested students Tuesday, October 4th after school until 4:15.
Free 2 Be
Free 2 Be is the Long Valley Middle School's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) and is open to all students. Free 2 Be will support students' efforts to raise awareness and acceptance within our school community and meets every 2nd and 4th Monday before school. Please contact Mrs. Hollman or visit the Guidance Office for more information.
LVMS Rock Band
The LVMS Rock Band is now accepting auditions for the 2022-2023 school year. Interested in playing guitar, bass, or drums in a band? Want to meet and collaborate with musicians? See Mr. Forrestal for more details.
Music Production Club
Interested in learning how to record and produce your own music? Sign-ups for the Music Production Club are now open. Gain experience working behind the scenes at the Winter and Spring concerts. The Music Production club meets Friday mornings. See Mr. Forrestal for more information.

Boys and Girls Cross Country
Cross Country Practice takes place today 3:30 — 4:45 PM. Congratulations to Micah Brackmann for a third place win in Friday’s Tri-Meet against Frelinghuysen and Memorial Middle Schools. Micah finished the 1.8 mile course with a fast pace of 10 minutes and 47 seconds.

Color Run Fundraiser & 10/1 Event
The PTA’s Family Color Run happening Saturday, 10/1 at 11 a.m. in the LVMS Back Field! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the Run is to celebrate everyone’s efforts! We’ve raised over $3,000 but need more students to fundraise. Register here and help the PTA reach our $25,000 goal. Students reaching $350 will get free registration for up to 3 family members to the Color Run! Questions? New Date for the 7th Grade Fall Social: 10/21
Register now for the 7th Grade Fall Social, happening Friday, October 21st. This fun scavenger hunt with minute-to-win-it competitions will take place in the LVMS Back Field, 6-8 pm.
