Character Analysis
Helena
Helena is Hermia's best friend and is in love with Demetrius. Helena is important to the story because she told Demetrius of Hermia and Lysander's plan to run away. She is also the one to find Lysander while he was under the love spell.
Hermia
Hermia is in love with Lysander and friends with Helena. Although she is not in love with Demetrius, her father is forcing her to marry him. This causes her to run away with Lysander and Helena and Demetrius follow them. Hermia contributes to the plot because she is the reason that the four characters go into the forest since she loves Lysander instead of Demetrius.
Lysander
He has been put under a spell. He is important being one of the main men within the story. His true love is with Hermia but can not marry her within his current area for Hermia's father will not allow it. He becomes under a spell and instead starts to love Hermia's best friend Helena.
Demetrius
Demetruis is in love with Hermia, since her family is rich. When Demetruis goes out into the forest after Hermia and Lysander, he initially causes most of the conflict. Since this triggers Helena to follow him into the forest and eventually this causes Lysander falls in love with Helena.
Theme
If you love something enough you should always try hard for it whether it be from the smallest of things to the biggest. In the play Hermia and Lysander love each other so much that they are willing to leave everything to be with each other.
