Knightly Update March 27, 2022
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 32
________________________________________
Let the final quarter of the year begin! I hope everyone had a nice, fun break and enjoyed the time away from school. I am excited to begin the fourth quarter and look forward to all the events, celebrations and recognitions that come with the last quarter of the year. If you haven't already, make sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, May 26th as this will be the day we hold the Class of 2022's Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 PM and will be held at our stadium (Dr. Fred DePrez Athletic Stadium). While graduation will be the culminating event of the quarter, we have much to look forward to before that exciting day. Please be sure to review the weekly events in our updates and via our school's website. I hope this quarter bring success to every Knight.
Testing is always associated with the fourth quarter, and that is exactly how we will begin the first week back - with the administration of the Arizona Science (AzSCI) Assessment. All juniors will be taking the AzSCI Assessment on Wednesday or Thursday, March 30th or 31st. Students will take the test on the block day that they attend their history class (i.e. if they have history on Thursday, they will take the test on Thursday). In the event an 11th grade student does not take history on campus in person, they have been assigned to take the AzSCI Assessment on Wednesday. Room assignments will be posted around campus and in our cafeteria for our junior students to review when they return on Tuesday. The testing schedule is below. It is important that all members of the Class of 2023 arrive to school on time as the assessment will begin promptly at 7:25. There is no adjustment to the regular bell schedule on Wednesday or Thursday, and all other grade levels must be in attendance and attend class as usual. If you have any questions about the AzSCI assessment, please contact the office.
Following the AzSCI assessment, next week our freshmen students will be taking the ACT Aspire on Wednesday, April 6th or Thursday, April 7th. Students will take the assessment on the block day that they attend their English class. Room assignments for the ACT Aspire will be posted around campus and in the cafeteria by Thursday, March 31st. Students must be on time as the exam will begin promptly at 7:25. Like with the AzSCI assessment, all other grade levels must be in attendance and prepared to meet with their teachers as they do on any regular block day. Again, if you have any questions about the AzSCI assessment or the ACT Aspire, please contact the office.
After these initial two weeks of testing, no other state or national exams will be administered until May when AP exams will be given to students who registered to take an exam. Information about AP exams will be shared in a future update.
I want to give a huge "shout out" to our school's custodial team for the work they completed over the break. They worked throughout the break to clean our campus and prepare for the students and staff's return. In addition to cleaning the school, the team also painted the many scuff marks on our school's hallways. As we return to campus, I ask that our students and staff do their best not to lean against or place their feet on the wall when waiting outside a classroom. With the white walls, marks are very evident. Thank you for helping our custodial team maintain the cleanest and healthiest campus possible.
I took some time over the break to review all of the remarkable accomplishments that our students and teachers have achieved this year. It is very impressive when you take the time to look back on what has been accomplished. It really is amazing. Let's all work together to finish the year just as strong. Have a great quarter, Knights. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Thank you.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Knights in the Spotlight
We have our first USAJMO (United States of America Junior Mathematic Olympiad) qualifier this year! Yoobin Cha earned the privilege of sitting for this strenuous two-day mathematics exam by his outstanding AMC B score and his strong score of 8 out of 15 on the AIME. He took the exam on March 22nd and March 23rd. Each day consisted of 3 problems with 4.5 hours to write detailed solutions/proofs. A total of 9 hours for 6 problems (mind boggling eh?)
Only the top 500 (combined) students take the USAJMO and the USAMO each year. As a freshman, Yoobin is off to a very strong start in his mathematical endeavors. We are beyond proud of this young man. Way to go Yoobin!

April College Fair
The Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC) is a non-profit professional association consisting of over 500 people from secondary and post-secondary institutions. RMACAC serves students in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. This year RMACAC will be hosting a free college fair at Arizona State University Tempe campus, the fair is open to all students and their families! This is a great opportunity for students and their families to come out and interact with over 100 colleges and universities.
The fair will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 12:00p - 2:00p Arizona time at Arizona State University (Sun Devil Fitness Complex, 400 E. Apache Blvd., Tempe, AZ 85287). Parking will be available in the Apache Parking structure for students and families. While inside any ASU buildings, masks are required for all people, regardless of vaccination status.
Students must register in advance with StriveScan by completing a quick form. After they sign up, StriveScan will send a barcode via text message and email. At the college fair, they will need to present their barcode to college representatives to receive more information about that college. The next day, they will receive an email with a report of all of the colleges and representatives they met, along with the college’s contact information and social media profiles.
For more information about the fair please visit https://www.rmacac.org/phoenix.

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
