Counselor Corner for Seniors
March 2018
Are You Ready to Graduate?
There are less than 3 months left of your high school career! Passing your classes is a must, but there are a few reminders we have about those other details such as AP, Google, Scholarships and Parchment. Plus, there are still college and career learning opportunities.
AP Sign Up by March 15th
Students interested in taking Advanced Placement tests must sign up before March 15th. They received a booklet and instructions on how to sign up last week. Click here to access the sign up link on the Counselor's Corner website.
Senior Emails- Important
Seniors' Google accounts will be inactivated at the end of the semester. If students have any documents or emails, they need to start moving them. May will be a very busy month, so transfer your information now.
Parchment
Wondering how the final transcript gets sent to your future school? You must have a Parchment account set up for us to send it. If Parchment is not familiar to you, please come in and let us help you set up an account! You do not have to send your final transcript now- wait until the end of the year when we give instructions.
Local Scholarships
With spring also comes some great local scholarships specifically for our students at Andover Central. The following scholarships will be given to ACHS students: Andover Police and Fire, White Eagle, Kansas Medical Center, PEO, Board of Education, Kansas Community Foundation, and a new one from the ACHS staff. Please check out the Scholarships and Opportunities Chart for details!
WATC/WSU Tech
The name is changing, and the programs are continuing to grow with WSU Tech! There will be a student/parent night on March 29th for any student interested in attending WATC/WSU Tech next year. Even if you have already toured the facility, take your parent. There aren't very many times when schools offer evening sessions. You can attend either from 5:45-7:15 or 7:15-8:30. Parents or students, please RSVP to Lisa Stinson at stinsonl@usd385org or 218-4405 so that we can give a head count to Cody Griffin, our admissions representative.
Davis Moore Technical Career Fair
Any student interested in the automotive field is reminded to go to the Technical Career Fair on Saturday, March 10 from 10-12 at Davis Moore, 7675 E. Kellogg Dr. Parents who attend with the students will receive a free oil change! There will be representatives from auto schools and auto companies, live demonstrations, and free food!
