Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to start by giving a massive CONGRATULATIONS to our Year 5 students for their hard work in completing their ‘Night of the Notable’ Presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday night. There were plenty of nerves, excitement and enthusiasm and I was so proud of all our students! This is an excellent example of how teamwork between home and school can produce fantastic outcomes for our students and I would like to thank our staff for planning, organising and preparing our students, as well as our parents for their support, hard work and a few late nights I am sure… I would also like to thank the staff who came out to support our students, Sam and Isaac on the night. This team effort takes the pressure off the teachers and meant both evenings ran smoothly.

Over the next few weeks I will be finalising staffing and we will begin the process of forming new class lists for 2024. Many hours of time and effort go into creating these and there are many factors that need to be considered, including:

- Gender

- Academic ability

- Student behaviour

- Individual learning needs/support

- Friendship groups (student nominations and teacher judgement)

- Student interests and talents

- Teacher and support staff strengths

Throughout the year, parents have typically had many discussions with their child’s teacher in regard to their child’s needs, and these will all be carefully considered when creating class lists. In terms of parents requesting specific teachers, unless there is an exceptional circumstance, we expect and trust that all our teachers (and staff) are highly professional, build positive relationships with students, are flexible and adaptable in their teaching and provide engaging learning experiences for the students in their classrooms.

Staffing is announced at the ACM on Wednesday 29th November and class lists will be posted to SeeSaw on Friday the 1st December. This will also be our Transition morning where our students will have some fun meeting their new teachers and classmates. I know that all our staff will make this a positive and enjoyable experience for their new students!

I hope you all get out and enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

On the 17th and 18th of October, the Year 5’s performed our NOTN project which we had been working on since the start of term 3. During this 13- week process we researched our notable person, wrote biographies, edited and performed 5-minute speeches, cut our speeches down to 1-minute, made displays combining all of our past learning and work, and finally presented our well-prepared speeches to our parents and staff.

We practiced and practiced and our hard work definitely payed off. We were all nervous, but we put that to use, and we had more confidence on stage. Everyone enjoyed the night, and our speeches were a hit! We all did our best and made sure that we stayed in character to impress the audience.

After our speeches the parents came and walked around our displays, asking questions about our notable person and congratulating us on our amazing work. We are relieved that it’s over, but we are definitely feeling and tinge of sadness that the process is now all done and dusted.

We would like to acknowledge our amazing teachers as this wouldn’t be possible without them, a big thank you to Mrs Garrad, Mr Hilton, Mrs Fields and Miss Pedler.
