What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building homes. With volunteers and donations, they construct houses for families that are homeless due to natural disasters or civil unrest. With about one million volunteers each year, they are able to formulate feasible and energy-efficient homes.
Why Are We Needed In The World?
Worldwide, around 827.6 million people live in urban slums and by 2020 it is estimated that the world slum population will go up to 1 billion. Right now about 50% of worlds population live in urban areas, and sadly cause of the lack of clean and sanitary water it claims more than 1,8 million young children lives. In the United States alone around 48.5 million people live in poverty.A decent, stable housing provides more than shelter, it provides stability for family and children, a sense of dignity and pride, health and physical safety and security and it increases educational and job prospect.
