Challenges - less Paper; Goal - More activities and/or technology use

Our district mission is to "Inspire, Engage, Empower!" students. As we know, our students struggle to stay focused and engaged with paper and pencil activities. yes, there are times we must use paper and pencil, but there are so many opportunities available for us to provide more engaging ways to learn. This includes PBL, Makerspace, projects and of course the use of technology. Our district is well beyond other districts in providing us with a plethora of apps and supports to use in our classrooms. So the question is, are we taking advantage of all of these things at our fingertips?

How can I help you to utilize and engage students in these things? How can the tech coach and instructional coach support you? Are there specific Monday morning collaborations we can provide to encourage and support you? Please reach out to us!

Everyone needs some down time.....

Please remember that we are not taking recess away from students. Everyone needs some mental well-being time and recess is just that for students! We all need our lunch time for the same reason. Yes, students might need an alternative recess time with Legos, Magna Tiles, etc......but they still need time away from school work. The sensory room is another place that can support students mental and physical well-being.

You are the Champions!

Take a moment to watch this Ted Talk with Rita Pierson, It reminds us of the importance of learning something beyond academics about our students. We must make connections and share interests with our students! Do you know what they are interested in? Do they play a sport? Are they a gymnast? Maybe they play the piano or guitar or are a collector.

Think about each child in your room, do you know something about them outside of school? If not, how will you build that connective relationship this week? And how will you continue to ignite that interest with each individual child? When we bring up or ask about their interests, it lights up their faces and they know we care!!

Ready Math - think, share, compare

With many of new to Ready Math and the others engaging in year 2, this is a great article to remind all of us what Ready Math should look like in the classroom. The practice should be think, share, compare.....................It is a quick read and well worth it!
