We want to avoid as much waste as possible so we are asking that you take a moment to fill out this Google form if your student will need a sack lunch on the last day of school. The deadline to complete this is Monday, May 22nd at 3 p.m.

Sack Lunch Request for 5/25/23

Please complete this form if your student will require a sack lunch on the last day of school, 5/25, which is also an Early Release. Students will take the sack lunch with them.

Message from BISD Transportation Department

Please remember, all “ride home with friend” or “Ride alongs” need approval from the Transportation Department Prior to getting on the bus. Parents need to call and make sure there is room on the bus for a ride along. (830)357-2970.

We ask that we have this information by 1:00pm so drivers can be properly notified. (email to the teacher is not enough)

So many of our buses have double runs or very full ridership, we are unfortunately not able to accommodate everyone, every day. Additionally, we are having to combine some routes with shortages and need to make sure those who are signed up to ride the bus, have their seats available and that students are safely on their scheduled bus.

Thanks for your cooperation.

23-24 Parent Planning Feedback Form

As we approach the end of the school year, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your help and support. You have played an instrumental role this year in supporting a successful year for the students at HES. Looking ahead to next school year, I wanted to allow you an opportunity to provide your parent feedback for the best academic setting for your student.

As a parent, I share many of the same worries about a new school year. Will my child like his/her teacher; will he/she have friends in his/her class? With my counselor hat on, I feel that you play a vital role in creating cohesive classrooms. This form will give you the opportunity to give input for the 2023-2024 school year. The information you provide will be used as we begin to look at forming classes for next year.

Please know that specific requests for a particular teacher will NOT be honored. If a teacher is named on this form, the form will be considered invalid and will not be seen by administration.

Thanks!

Mrs. Keel

**To be placed in a class for next year, enrollment must be complete in Skyward**

See Something, Say Something

School safety is very important, and it's up to all of us to work together as a team to prevent bad things from happening.

If we all stay alert and work as a team to report dangerous or suspicious activity, we can help keep our schools safe.

Weekly Reminders

Transportation Changes

In order to help dismissal run smoothly, all transportation changes should be communicated with the front office no later than 2:30 p.m. This allows time for these changes to be shared with teachers and students.

If you call after 2:30 p.m. the office will transfer you to the classroom, but it is possible the teacher may not answer if they are teaching.

Early Pickups

If you need to pick up your student(s) early from school you will need to do so by 2:45 p.m. After 2:45 p.m. classes are getting ready for dismissal and students can sometimes be difficult to locate.

Lunch Visitors

Please note the following procedures that will be in place to help this process go smoothly when it begins.

  • Visitors MUST check in at the front office by presenting their ID and obtain a visitor's pass.
  • Visitors will be able to eat with their student(s) outside in our courtyard. We have wonderful picnic tables. No friends or classmates will be able to join.
  • You are welcome to bring food for your student(s), but it cannot be shared with other classmates.
  • Visitors will NOT be able to walk with students back to their class after lunch.

Scheduled Lunch Times

Pre-K: 11:00-11:30 a.m.

Kindergarten: 10:15-10:45 a.m.

1st Grade: 10:45-11:15 a.m.

2nd Grade: 12:15-12:45 p.m.

3rd Grade: 11:50-12:20 p.m.

4th Grade: 12:45-1:15 p.m.

5th Grade: 11:35-12:05 p.m.

Crosswalk Reminders

We have many of our Herff students who use the crosswalk on Esperanza Blvd. to travel to and from school. Student safety is of the utmost importance to us. Please remember the following during morning arrival and afternoon departure.

  • All vehicles should stop at the crosswalk when pedestrians are present.
  • Be on the lookout, especially in the mornings when it is still dark.
  • The crosswalk is also in the school zone, therefore all vehicles should adhere to the posted speed limit sign of 20 mph.

We appreciate your help in ensuring the safety of our students.

Water Bottles

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child each day that is labeled with their name. We will have a water bottle filling station available for students to refill their water throughout the day if needed and an option for students if they do not have a water bottle.

Birthday Treats

We are excited to celebrate student birthdays at school this year. All birthday treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped if possible or in the original container from the store.

All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthdays MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.

It is best to have treats delivered to the office by your child's lunch so they can be eaten in the afternoon.

Birthday Marquee Announcements

Don't forget to celebrate your student on their birthday with an announcement on our marquee! Please purchase your announcement at least two weeks prior to the birthday date. The child's first name only will run on the marquee the entire week of their birthday. All funds go to back to support our school!
