Hello Liberty House Families!
Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year! It's hard to believe that we're already in Week 3!
We are so excited to have our returning families back and excited to meet our new Liberty families soon. I'm Amy Jones, our 7th/8th Social Studies teacher and House Leader. I wanted to introduce myself, as well as the other Liberty House teachers and staff, as we've had many new additions to the team (a complete list of Liberty House Faculty can be found here on our House website).
We welcome the following teachers and staff who are new to Nathan Hale:
Mrs. Tom - 6th Grade Math
Mrs. Milum - 7th Grade ELA
Mr. Kirby - 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Gifted and Talented
Ms. Turner - Speech and Language Pathologist
We have some NHMS staff who've been moved into Liberty House this year. They include:
Ms. Conron - 6th Grade ELA
Ms. Coverson - 7th Grade Math
Mr. Fedeli - 8th Grade Math
We also welcome back to NHMS Ms. Risolo, our 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Resource Teacher/ELA Co-Teacher!
Liberty House has a truly amazing group of teachers and support staff who have already banded together to set us on a path for an exceptional school year. Dr. Sackey and Mrs. Guerra tasked us to review our House Vision Statement right before school started. Our Vision Statement projects what we as adults see and want for all of our students and families. We tweaked what we already had to read:
Liberty House is a small learning community within Nathan Hale Middle School. We strive to be a high performing team of teachers, staff, students, and parents to help ALL students leave Nathan Hale ready for high school and college or career ready path. We will be kind and work hard while practicing the attributes of C.L.A.S.S. (Cooperate, Listen, Ask Questions, Share Responsibility, and Serve Community) and celebrate everyone in Liberty House while holding each other accountable to ensure all stakeholders in our small learning community are successful.
Furthermore, we broke down our Vision Statement to 6 simple words so that our message can clearly be understood and internalized by our students. Be kind. Work hard. Celebrate everyone. Our student version of our Vision Statement is the image at the top of this email and we are in the process of creating posters of the above image that will soon be posted in every Liberty classroom and office space!
In addition to our Vision Statement, we've been working to revamp and realign our Expectations and Procedures to both the new NPS Code of Conduct and Nathan Hale expectations. We will share that information as soon as we've finished.
I will send out an email later this week with some more information about upcoming events in Liberty House (we have so many fun and meaningful things in the works!), but for now, here are some important links you may want to "bookmark":
Finally, we would like to say that we are ALL a part of this small learning community and we (teachers & staff) care about your child(ren)'s well-being and success as much as you do. We want to keep open communication with you through appropriate and respectful ways. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything.
Again, welcome to Liberty House -- we're so glad we're all here!
