From the desk of Natalie Kijurna:
Hello!
It's October 26th, the 299th day of the year. There are 66 days left!
I heard someone talking about anxiety a few weeks ago. They said all anxiety is usually rooted in the fear of a little nugget of distasteful truth (e.g. I'm not going pass the RPR...for the fourth time). While a non-anxious person will leave that tiny distasteful truth and move on without focusing on the negative (after all, while it may be true that you won't pass the RPR again, it's certainly not necessarily true) an anxious person will explode that nugget into a firestorm of fear, doubt, and pessimism.
Have any of you experienced this while taking a certification? While trying to reach your next speed level in school or your exit speeds? Or, maybe while taking a test for a new job? Or, maybe just in your job search in general? I sometimes think it's almost unavoidable. However, while I thought about that person's comment, I started to understand that while negative thoughts may be unavoidable, what matters most, in my opinion, is that you realize what they are and then acknowledge that you can manage them even if it's one little baby step at a time. All of you are amazing, talented folks who are alumni of a respected, accredited institution of higher learning. You, my friends, made it! Your job search is going to give some lucky employer a shot to hire one of the best in the industry! Passing those certs is nothing more than solidifying what we, at CCR, already know. You're brilliant at what you do, and you'll only get better. Try not to let fear or anxiety dictate where you want to be professionally or personally for that matter. You have what it takes inside you - you just need to make sure to always nurture the positive and kick the negative nugget to the curb.
With that said, please take a look at this week's opportunities, some of which are carried over from week to week. Also, please go to www.ccr.edu. Click on Resources>Alumni/Employers and take a look at some of our Employer Colleagues! Each of these employers are interested in hiring. So, give them a call!
Questions? Please let me know. Remember, I'm here to help in any way I can whether it's providing resume/cover letter edits, interviewing tips, or job search guidance. Always feel free to give me a call or send an email.
Slainte Mhath!
