"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
Principal's Message
A month has gone by since our last newsletter and we continue to adapt and adjust to the changes we face. I have shared Dr. Null's #10 Facebook Live below. If you have not watched it I would highly recommend you do so to gain understanding on the decisions that have been made by our District. Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff. Our "top priority" has not changed. Our children and our family's physical and mental health is most important as together we fight Covid-19!
As we "Ramp Up", our staff will be practicing the systems of our building to prepare for our students to return. I have linked below our "Common Area Expectations" with the updated Covid Amendments for your review. These systems will be followed on September 8th. We also plan to be inviting specific groups of students into the building before the 8th. These student's families will be individually contacted. We are also considering creating opportunities for you to sign up and to tour the building before the 8th. I was looking forward to hosting our first annual "Stockton Stampede" when we invite our students and families to to tour the building, get schedules, and purchase spirit items, but that must wait for next year! Below in our newsletter you can see some of our spirit items that will be available to be purchased.
On August 12th ALL of our students will begin our campus's remote learning plan. This plan can be found below in our newsletter. On the August 7th all of our "Advisory" teachers will be calling your homes to make contact with your child and share with them that on the 12th they will be making the same call to connect with them for 1st day of school attendance. This is so important to understand because if the student does not engage through Canvas or is NOT contacted on the 1st day of school then they are dropped and would have to re-enroll. This is a yearly practice that you are probably not aware of but with us being remote makes it even more important for you to understand this protocol. We do not want any of our students to have to be dropped due to lack of engagement or our inability to be contacted on the 1st day of school.
As you will see below, all of our teachers have 3 hours a day to work with your children. Our campus's block schedule will benefit your children. Your children take 4 classes a day and they should connect with those 4 teachers on their set Maroon or Silver day schedule. Now if they need any more assistance they can always join into that teacher's online instruction or support on any day. They can join daily if needed but our block schedule only requires them to engage in the classes on their schedule. Our Maroon/ Silver Calendar can be found on our campus's website. I have it linked below.
More plans are being created by our District and by our campus to support you and your child with their individual needs.
As a reminder for all of our families; Your child's School Physical and Immunization records must be up to date. For our 8th graders, your last year physical on file will still be good but all 7th graders and new students to the District must get an updated physical to participate in any of our athletic programs. I have attached a flyer for your use to give you a choice of locations on getting both of these items if needed.
Please make sure to use the "Checkout" link below to sign up for what day and time you can come to campus to pick up your child's Chromebook. As of today 464 families have signed up to pick up their Chromebook! Thank you!
It is my honor being your child's junior high principal! If you have any questions or needs, please always feel free to reach out to me.
Stay safe and let's always remember our top priority!
