Lindsey Lundberg, 5th Grade

Hi, my name is Lindsey. I was born and raised in Chico. I’m excited to be teaching at the school my mom went to when she was in kindergarten. I graduated from Chico State in 2019 and completed their credential program. This will be my third year teaching and my second year teaching 5th grade.

I’m very close with my family. We get together every Sunday for family dinner and game night. My family consists of rice farmers and teachers. During the summer and on some weekends, you can find me out in Richvale driving tractors or in Almanor at my parent's cabin.

I love anything that requires me to be outdoors. I enjoy gardening, hiking, traveling, and walking my dog Millie. I played a lot of sports growing up and am pretty competitive. I look forward to meeting everyone and having a great year!

Heather Keller, Reading Specialist

I grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and graduated from UofO. (Go Ducks!) I taught middle school in Portland for 8 years. We moved to Chico in 2008 when my husband took a job in the Biology Dept. at Chico State. Once my boys (Ben- 9th gr. at PV & Alex- 6th gr. at Marsh) were in school, I started substitute teaching at Sierra View. Last year I took on the Reading Specialist position and am really excited to be continuing in that role. When I'm not at school, I can usually be found with a book.

Alexis Barker, SPED

My name is Alexis Barker. I have taught special education in Marysville Joint Unified school district for 15 years. My last assignment was at 3 small schools (2 elementary and one high school). For the past 9 years, most of the special education services were provided in the general education classroom to all different disabilities. But the long drive, my crazy schedule, and 3 schools was exhausting.

At home, I love painting, bird watching, movies (anything about British history or very funny like Curb your enthusiasm), my backyard, and watching our favorite sports teams. My husband Brett is the director of the work training center. He was the person who encouraged me to go into special education. My children, Bella and Evan, keep me busy. Bella is 20 and off to college at Sac State in like 20 days. Evan is a 7th grader at Bidwell Jr. He keeps me busy with thinking of different ways to keep him off video games and waking him up early. We have so many pets, 2 dogs and 8 cats. My sister-in-law has 6 cats and 1 dog. She is living with us until her home is rebuilt in Paradise. That is a huge interesting story for another time. This summer my family worked on improving our backyard with a cool rock fountain. I can't wait for the cool autumn nights to really enjoy it.

But way before all this, I grew up in Lake Tahoe and I went to college at UC Santa Cruz, spent a year abroad in England, and moved to Chico for the credential program in the late 90s. Phew.

Emily Moulton, Attendance Clerk

Hello, my name is Emily Moulton. I’ve lived here in the Chico area most of my life. I come from a very big family, my Dad was 1 of 15 kids so I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I’m 1 of five siblings and have 3 nieces and a nephew on the way. I’ve been married to my husband Casey for 11 years this December. We have two daughters, Makayla in 7th grade, Caily in 3rd grade, and a chocolate lab named Cocoa. I’ve been lucky enough to be a stay-at-home Mom for the last 11 years but with the girls getting older I decided it was time for me to join the workforce again. I’m so excited to be joining such a welcoming place here at Hooker Oak Elementary!

School Site Council Parent Vacancies

Our School Site Council (SSC) currently has 3 vacancies for a PARENT member. We would be honored if you would consider serving in this position.

Our SSC meets six times throughout the year on Wednesdays from 2:30 – 3:30. Click here to view the meeting schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. The team consists of half parents (5), and half school staff: three classroom teachers, one classified member, and myself. Any member of the public may attend the meeting, but only the members can vote. Members serve a two-year term. Each year we create the School Plan, including action steps for student achievement supported by “categorical” monies. In addition, SSC is tasked with reviewing and revising as necessary the Parental Involvement Policy and the School Safety Plan. The SSC members volunteer to serve on the Council.

The members of SSC are elected by their peers. Should you choose to “run” for this position, your name will be on a ballot and every Hooker Oak parent will be asked to vote August 22nd-26th.

Our first School Site Council meeting and training for this year is:

When: Wednesday, September 7, 2022

Time: 2:30 p.m.

Location: Room 18

***Please call our school office to let us know if you are interested in running for School Site Council or email Principal Emily Mullins at emullins@chicousd.org by August 19, 2022.

Thank you,

Emily Mullins

Principal
