Random Acts of Kindness!
A "Random Act of Kindness" given to us from the Garden Club of Harwich! They created these in a workshop on Monday and each person was charged with spreading them around town to share! (Thanks to Courtney Blankenship - Emma's mom - for thinking of MRHS!) The attached (post)card reads:
"I'm a Lonely Bouquet. Please take me home and enjoy me. My friends at the Garden Club of Harwich would love to know where you found me and where I now live. Please send this post card back to let them know that I was adopted."
#2)
A large box of assorted donuts was given to the office staff with a note that reads:
To Mr. Burkhead and Office Staff,
Thank you for all you do for our school! Every student here, whether they know it or not, has benefited from work that you have done to make our lives and school more functional. The work you do impacts our lives so positively that all 650 of us appreciate it every second of the day ♥

Credit for Life Fair - 12th Grade
LOCATION: MRHS Gym
On Thursday October 10 from 8:45-11:00 we will once again be hosting the Credit for Life Fair here at the MRHS Gym. The fair is an interactive simulation that requires our senior students to select a career option and practice managing their personal budgets based upon the projected monthly income of their job choice. Students will visit booths staffed by Cape Cod Five employees and other members of the community as they make financial decisions about what they want, what they need and what they can afford. The Credit for Life Fair was designed to help students gain an understanding of the financial decisions they will have to make when they are on their own, without parents or guardians paying the bills and covering costs of food, clothing, shelter and entertainment.

Athletics Weekly Summary
Written by: Emma Santoni
As Hurricane Dorian hit Cape Cod the Monomoy Sharks Football team hit the field for their first game against Carver. Yes, you heard that right the Sharks football team did not let the weather stop them from playing. They played right through the rain and wind. The game ended with a tough loss against the Crusaders of Carver High 24-6. The Offensive highlight was Senior Elijah Beasley running a 100 yard touchdown on a kick return in the first half. Even though we couldn't come out on top, the boys never gave up and kept fighting till the lights went out, ending the game. The spirits were kept high through the whole game with the help from the Cheer Team and the student section who braved the weather to cheer the players on.
On Sunday the fall athletes were in The Harwich Hometown Parade for the third year in a row. Thank you to all the athletes who came out to show their Shark pride. A special thank you to the parent volunteers who came out: Nicole and Kenny Moniz, Julie and Jon Santoni, Karen Guillemette, and John Malone who donated his time and truck for athletes to ride on. One more Shark shoutout to Senior Paul Reece who volunteered to be the Shark - thank you Paul!
Monday afternoon the Sharks field hockey team headed to the Lagoon to see who the real powerhouse of the ocean is. The Sharks dominated last year’s State Champions, the DY Dolphins with a 2-1 victory. The first goal was scored by Caroline DiGiovanni with an assist from Carly Dimock. Dimock went on to score the second goal giving the Sharks the lead. Wednesday, they took on the Nauset Warriors and the former Harwich High School and Monomoy coach. Well things went poorly for Nauset as the Sharks dominated the game and beat the Warriors with a Sharks 4-1 victory. It was a good team win and effort to keep the ball on the offensive for the majority of the time. Goals were scored by Caroline DiGiovanni (2), Carly Dimock and a rare penalty stroke by Holly Evans. This game brought out not only a big student section but many Rough Rider alumni. To end a busy week Thursday they took on Falmouth that ended in a 2-2 tie with both goals being scored by Caroline DiGiovanni.
The Boys Soccer team travelled to Sandwich to face the Knights Tuesday afternoon. They lost in a very close game 4-3. The goals were scored by Connor Deveau and AJ Williams who put 2 on the board for theSharks. Sean Deveau had many great saves in the goal. Their next match was versus Sturgis East on Thursday night where they tied 1-1. The lone goal was scored by Sam Higgins. It was back and forth all game, after halftime the team came out strong for the second half. Sturgis scored midway through the second half. Monomoy never gave up and held them to just that one goal.
Girls’ Soccer hosted Sandwich Tuesday where they were defeated by the Knights. The Monomoy team battled all game and kept the Knights to one goal. Knights won 1-0. Later in the week Girls’ soccer travelled to play Sturgis East and dominated them with a 5-0 victory. The goals were scored by Dakota Hesse who put 2 on the board for the Sharks, Kate Gabri, Kiki, and Maddie Crossen each added one goal. It was a strong team win.
Boys’ Golf travelled to the island for their match Tuesday evening versus Nantucket. The Sharks fell to the Whalers 130:72. Top scorers for Monomoy were Jason Metters (20) and Josh Poitras (16).
