Lincoln Instructional Technology
Weekly Update 9/4/15
Important Updates
- Please help us remind students to keep cases on their Chromebooks. We are seeing a broken screen epidemic, and it is only week four of school.
- Please remind students that they should restart their device any time they have an issue before coming down to the LRC for help.
Improving Work Flow
Graphic Organizers
Allison Sobotka, ITC at Carpenter, found this collection of graphic organizers created in Google Drawing. Feel free to make copies and utilize these with students.
Google Docs Quick Create
If you would like to create a new document without needing to open Google Drive first, use the "Google Docs Quick Create" extension.
Google Drive Quick Search
If you would like to SEARCH for a Google Drive document without opening Google Drive, use the "Quick Search for Google Drive" extension.
Coming Soon: Google Drive Improvements
Speech to Text in Google Docs
Google Docs now have voice typing (Speech to Text)! Students and staff can go to "Tools" and "Voice Typing" to use the microphone to get started.
"Explore" in Google Sheets
In the bottom right corner of a spreadsheet, the "explore" feature allows you to view pre-made graphs depicting your data. This is available for all spreadsheets, not just spreadsheets that are derived from a Google Form.
"See New Changes" in Google Docs
On collaborative docs, in addition to Revision History, see what changes have been made since the last time you accessed the doc.
