Please wear athletic shoes daily
We've had a great week getting to know your children! We are so excited to have them in PE everyday and we just want to remind you that all students are required to wear athletic shoes daily. Open toed shoes, sandals or boots make it very difficult for children in our class to move freely and safely. Please send them in athletic shoes that tie or velcro. If your child is injured, sick or can not participate, please send them with a note or email us.
What PE will be like for your child
Our focus for the kindergarten is to teach them the value of physical activity and develop key social skills, including good sportsmanship and teamwork. Good sportsmanship in kindergarten is as simple and important as taking turns and recognizing others during a game. They will learn to work in pairs and small groups and learn to appreciate others.
We will introduce them to a variety of skills to improve balance, hand and eye coordination, flexibility and strength. Jump roping, throwing, catching, kicking, and movement education are just a few they will be introduced to and we will practice throughout the year.
Typically our class will begin with a short jog, a routine for strength and flexibility exercises then followed by games and activities focused on a certain skill or skills.
