Manitou Springs Middle School
Friday, May 20th, 2022
Dear Families,
The staff at Manitou Springs Middle School wants to thank you for your support and partnership this school year. We had an incredible year of learning, growing, and fun with our students! We have a lot to celebrate as a school community.
Next week we will have a regular schedule on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Students will turn in their school-issued technology on Tuesday. Please send your child to school with their charger, iPad, and/or laptop.
The last day of school, Thursday, is an early release day for students (12:30). This day will include fun rotations like yearbook signing, a parking lot dance, and games. Students do not need their backpacks on the last day of school. Please see below for more information.
Sincerely,
Dustin Cady

8th Grade Art Project:
This week our 8th graders are finishing up a large-scale art project where they were able to choose from working on a banner, canvas, or making a tape mural. Our project involved extensive planning to ensure we had the right materials, filled the space correctly, and could be wrapped up before the end of the year. You may be surprised to see some large artwork coming home during the last week of school.
6th Grade World Language Feast:
The 6th grade World Language class celebrated with a feast as the year comes to an end!
Activities and Athletics
Basketball Camp:
The MSHS Boys and Girls Basketball programs will be hosting a youth camp, May 31st-June 3rd, 9:00am-12:00pm. Join us for a fun week of basketball fundamentals, game experience, and team and community bonding, facilitated and coached by both our boys and girls basketball program staff and players. Please see the brochure below for more details. If your student is interested, they can pick up a paper copy of the brochure from the front office!

Technology Collection:
Next Tuesday, May 24th, we will be collecting all iPads and laptops at the middle school. Parents, if you could make sure students have everything together for that day, that would be very helpful! Here is some information for device collection:
- 6th Graders will all turn in iPads AND chargers.
- 7th and 8th graders will turn in their laptops, but they will keep their chargers if they are returning to the district next year. If they are leaving the district, they will need to turn in their charger as well.
- Please make sure your student has returned any library books they had checked out.
- For all devices, if you could, please make sure all stickers (and residue) are removed before Tuesday
- If your student has lost their device, please let our Media Tech, Kolt Woofter (kwoofter@mssd14.org), know as soon as possible.
