DAVIS HILL COMMUNITY UPDATE
March 21, 2022
I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend! I know that in our household, spring brings with it a much busier family calendar and I imagine this is true for many in our DHCommunity as well.
Have a great week!
Please see brief updates below:
1. MEETINGS ON THURSDAY
This week on Thursday I am holding a '5th Grade Yearbook' Meeting for any parents/ caregivers of current 5th Grade Students who are interested in coordinating the 5th Grade Yearbook. This meeting will be held at 5:45 before the scheduled PTA Meeting at 6:30. I would love if interested individuals could make it to the building for an in-person meeting; however, if this is not possible, a virtual link for both of these meetings is below:
2. REMINDER: MITIGATION STRATEGIES/ COVID INFORMATION
As a district, we will continue to provide the multiple mitigation measures that are currently in place, including at-home test kit distribution (staff & students), symptomatic testing in the schools, pooled testing, providing masks which are still available to staff and students upon request, maintaining good hand hygiene practices, and staying home when sick.
WRSD Testing Program - Information

If case clusters are identified, parents in the impacted classroom will be notified and optional testing will be offered to impacted students and faculty/staff. General Covid Notification emails will no longer be sent unless there is a case cluster identified.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
'A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.'

PLEASE NOTE:
*Our general philosophy related to MCAS is similar to when students take classroom/ district assessments. Whether a curriculum-based teacher created pre-assessment/ post-assessment, District-Wide Assessment (STAR/ BAS) or MCAS, we believe that building student comfort with taking assessments and 'showing what they know' is an important part of their skill development as they grow and become high school/ college students. Taking assessments is a part of the educational process, and one of our goals at Davis Hill is that our students do not view assessments as stressful or 'defining' them. Part of this process, is practice taking assessments and managing the emotions that go along with them. Assessments are ultimately a tool to ensure that our students are learning and growing and the information that they provide should be viewed holistically.
