What we will be learning in December

In ELA, during the month of December, we will focus on elements of nonfiction text. Students will be researching and writing an all about book about the arctic. We will take a break from weekly spelling quizzes after this week. Below is a list of the pattern for the week and the word of the week.

November 30th: Oa, ow, ; exaggerate

December 7th: no spelling this week

December14th: no spelling this week

In Math, students will work on adding 3 2-digit numbers (ex. 15+13+20), adding 2 3-digit numbers (ex. 521+163), and subtracting 2 2-digit numbers (ex 95-23). Students will also work on becoming more fluent adding and subtracting ten. Students will not be studying Social Studies in December, but will solely focus on weather in Science.

Polar Express Party

Second grade will be learning all about the arctic over the next few weeks. We will be comparing nonfiction texts to the book Polar Express. On Thursday, December 17th, we will have a whole day devoted to The Polar Express. Students may wear their pajamas to school and bring a pillow and blanket so we can watch the movie in the cafeteria. We will have our actual party at 2:00 in the cafeteria. If you would like to help (even if it's just to pass out cookies), please contact Debbie Terzian debterzian@suddenlink.net.

Wednesday is Library Day!

We go to the library every Wednesday. Please make sure that your child has their library books in their backpack each Wednesday morning.

We need you!

If you would like to help in the classroom, or go on our field trip in March, you must sign up as a CSISD volunteer. Background checks will be done to keep all of our students safe.
