Keeping RCHS Students, Families, & Staff Connected!

Volume 1, Issue 2: Friday, November 20th

Principal's Message

Principal: Mr. J.D. Bussell

November 20th, 2020

RCHS Students & Parents,

Greetings from The Rock!

Governor Beshear’s Mandate

I’m sure everyone has heard that all Kentucky high schools have been ordered to move to virtual instruction until January 4th, 2021. Bright side? This means that the unforgettable year of 2020 will be over; otherwise, it means we will not get to see our students until next year.

Instruction Will Continue

All classes at RCHS will continue and assignments, quizzes, exams & virtual learning will roll along as well. It is so important that each student check his/her Google Classroom work for all 7 classes each day. You are high school students now and part of our job is to teach you responsibility for your own actions. If you are having issues with a class, email your teacher. You are too old for your parents to make you get online and use the Chromebooks each of you have been assigned. Remember, we have access to your assignments and the quantity & quality of “activity” on your Chromebooks.

Organize Your Day

Wake up each morning with a plan! Just because you are home doesn’t mean you should sleep until noon. Get out of bed on onto your Chromebook! All of our teachers are available from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday to work with students. Give your teacher a call or drop an email if you need help or have any issues. Our counselors are also available for college, career or emotional needs.

Student Email

Check your email every single morning and even multiple times throughout the day. You will be receiving information about our school calendar, your classes, assignments & events at RCHS. Stay involved in daily communication with your teachers!

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

I encourage all parents to check your child’s grades on IC Parent Portal regularly. Because we have been unable to physically send home report cards, it is imperative that parents check grades online. You can go the link: and if you have issues logging on, email Ms. Sherri McKinney: or call RCHS for login information.

Be safe & please contact me at RCHS if I can be of service.

J.D. Bussell

Classroom Spotlight: Geometry with Mrs. Charity Johnson

RCHS Geometry students are working hard to learn all about parallel lines and angles. One of our favorite activities to practice what we learn is Quizizz, an online program where the "players" earn points and powerups. They try to stay at the top of the leaderboard for their classes. Mrs. Johnson says, "Math isn't usually a favorite subject, so I try to incorporate different things to make it a little more fun for my students! I'm a competitive person and believe many students are also driven by the desire to win!"

Thank you for your dedication to our students, Mrs. Johnson!
