Informing Nurse Cooksey of COVID-like Symptoms
We have had supportive parents indicate that they would like to donate disinfecting products for their child’s classroom or campus. The District must ensure that all disinfecting products meet the health and safety standards established by the Environmental Protection Act. For this reason, please do not send disinfecting products to the campus. As we assess campus needs in the following weeks, we will communicate ways in which our generous parents and community may assist.
- School begins at sharply at 7:40 am. We continue to have many students arrive well after our start time. Please endeavor to have your child at school at time.
- Parents are not allowed in the building. We will have plenty of staff up front in the foyer, out front, and in the halls to help first time in-person students get to class.
- Please use the carline during after school dismissal. The parking lots are closed to parents and guardians after school. The only parents walking up to pick up their child should be those that walked from home. Thank you for support!
- Don't forget your mask daily! It's a good idea to put an extra mask in their backpack.
- Please have your car sign visible at dismissal. This speeds up the dismissal significantly

During the window, February 16- March 31, all district-issued student CHROMEBOOKS (grades 4-8) will be placed in KIOSK mode for test security purposes for the remainder of the school year beginning February 16, 2021. To exit KIOSK mode, students will need to hold down the CTRL-ALT-S key combination. This information must be communicated to students and parents in teacher and campus newsletters beginning next week. I have also attached a .pdf to this email for your use in communication. Please share the attachment with your teachers so that they also can communicate with students and parents. We will also be asking for this information to be placed on your campus websites. Also, students who participate in the BYOD will need to have a district-issued computer for Interim Assessments. Remote students are able to take the Interim Assessment from home if the STAAR testing app is installed on their device.
Daily Health Screening
Be sure to pre-screen your student for signs and symptoms associated with COVID-19 before bringing your student to school. The signs and symptoms are to screen for are:
Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit
Loss of taste or smell
Cough
Difficulty breathing
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Headache
Chills
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Shaking or exaggerated shivering
Significant muscle pain or ache
Diarrhea
Nausea or vomiting
If your child demonstrates any of the above signs or symptoms, they must stay home, and you need to report to the campus nurse the signs or symptoms your child is exhibiting. In the event that your child has a fever, they must be kept home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. Please do not give fever reducing medication and send your child to school. Additionally, please do not send your child to school if they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or are test-confirmed with COVID-19.
