A Message from the Principal
Mrs. David Returning
On the 1st of October, Mrs. Kelly David will be returning from her maternity leave. We have missed her! That being said, long-term sub Mrs. Audrey Stoneburner has done just an amazing job with our students. We thank you, Mrs. Stoneburner!!
Announcing Zion’s First Admissions Director!
I am excited to announce that Mrs. Lindsey Rochner has accepted the position of Admissions Director for Zion Lutheran Church and School. Her position will be very part-time and will be paid for from Zion’s Annual Fund. She will begin in November, and job responsibilities will include recruitment, retention, marketing, and growth for our school. Please join me in welcoming Lindsey.
A Note from Cindy Melcher
“Dear Walburg Family – Family is how I see you because that is the type of love and concern you have shown me over the past month. I will never find words or ways to thank you for the prayers, patience, and opportunities you have given me. If there is one thing I learned in my short term as a “trailblazer,” it is that this school and congregation doesn’t just talk the talk…you WALK the WALK of showing Jesus to others. I am very honored to say that Zion, Walburg, was where my teaching profession ended because it is a ministry that reflects what I believe Christian education should be. Blessings continue to find their way to the Hilltop….” – Mrs. Cindy Melcher (she started out as long-term sub for Mrs. Julie Weil)
Hallway Artwork
Did you notice? Mrs. Suzanne Kurth, a member of Zion congregation, has headed up a project to beautify and share Zion’s history. See some of her amazing work in the hallway heading into the school proper. She has a committee of committed volunteers to help her. Very professionally done! More to come….
Welcome New Students!
A very warm welcome to new students Ellie Adamek and Ryleigh Rodriquez, in Preschool and in Pre-Kindergarten, respectively!

Coach's Corner
Volleyball: The volleyball teams have started the season fast. The 5/6 grade girls traveled to Giddings for a round robin tournament and played well. The 5/6 girls have also started league play. The girls have one win and one loss in league play right now. The 7/8 girls traveled to New Braunfels to play in a tournament and came home with a 1st place finish in the Gold Bracket. They have also started league play and are undefeated right now. Great start girls!
Football: The football teams have also started league play. The 5th grade team played their first game(due to some rainouts) last week and played a group of combined 5/6th graders to a 6-0 loss. The 6th grade team has started quickly and are currently undefeated. The 7/8 graders also started league and have played a non-league game. The boys got their first win last week in a great performance against Coupland. Good job boys.
Cross Country: The early birds have ran in two meets so far this year(Liberty Hill and Rogers), both the boys and girls have improved their times from the first to the second. The 6:45 running time throughout the week have worked. The team will run again in October at Lampasas and Concordia, we wish them well.
