I am so excited to have the book fair set up in the library for students to come and visit February 8th-11th. This will be for students of McAnally only. Be on the lookout for the flyers that were sent home with students.
You can start looking at what is coming and place orders straight from Follett eFairs , all online purchases will be due by February 12th. Thank you for your support!
Yearbook
This is a very unique year and has proven to be difficult in so many ways. Yearbook wouldn’t be what it is without you! I want to thank all of my parents who have been uploading me pictures through the app Yearbook Snap or online through Community Upload. I could not make the yearbook personal without your help. If you have not downloaded the app (Yearbook Snap) or used community upload yet there is still time. Access code is mcanally (make sure not to use capitals and no space or it will not work).
Remember the year forever with a personalized copy of yearbook! Buy the yearbook now before it is too late.
Core Class Updates
ELAR
At the beginning of the week we will finish up our informational essay. It will be due at the end of the class period on Monday(it is for a summative grade). We will then start our poetry unit. Students will learn to T.W.I.S.T. a poem, so that they will be able to understand: what is happening in the poem, identifying imagery, analyzing structural elements and establishing the theme. Please make sure that your student is working daily in Lexia.
Math
Math
In math this week we will summarize creating equivalent expressions using properties, order of operations, prime factorization, and whole number exponents. Students will review the unit on Monday and test on Tuesday, 1-26. Wednesday through Friday we will begin our introduction to Algebra unit. We will work with tables, graphs, and equations to identify the independent and dependent quantities, along with additive and multiplicative relationships.
PreAP Math
In PAP math we will review our intro to algebra unit on Monday and take our unit 7 test on Tuesday, 1-26. This test will be over the types of relationships found in tables, graphs, and equations. On Wednesday we will move into unit 8, writing, solving, and graphing one-step, one-variable equations and inequalities.
Science
We continue in our Force and Motion unit, focusing our attention on calculating average speed using distance and time measurements.

COVID Health & Safety Reminders
As we move into cold and flu season and begin to see an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases amongst our students and staff, please be reminded of the health and safety protocols in AISD’s Return to Learn Plan:
- Parents of all students must screen children for symptoms and take the temperature of each of their children before their child attends school every day. Students who have an elevated temperature above 100.4°F OR have any COVID-related symptoms must report the symptoms to their campus nurse and stay home (Please DO NOT send kids with symptoms to school).
- All students shall wear face coverings at all times while on Aledo ISD property that social distancing, maintaining six feet of distance, is not possible. Face coverings should cover both the nose and the mouth of the user.
What to Expect if there is a Positive Case at McAnally
Parents will receive email notification if a student or employee tests positive for COVID-19. If it has been determined that your student was in close contact with someone who tested positive, you will receive an additional notification.
Please Follow these Guidelines if someone in your family has tested positive or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive:
- If someone in your household tests positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send anyone from the household to school.
- If someone with whom a student had close contact has tested positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send that student to school.
Aledo ISD COVID-19 Tracking
Student Absence vs. Quarantine
If your student is not feeling well and/or has COVID symptoms, please contact the school to notify us of their absence. If symptoms subside and the student is able to come back to school, they will then be provided make-up work for their absence. If the symptoms worsen and they test positive for COVID, please complete the COVID reporting form and the school will notify you regarding the specific quarantine guidelines. The quarantine process is initiated by the school when we receive a COVID Reporting Form.
Save the Dates!
- Feb. 8-11th: Book Fair
Please see Ms. Huffman's Counselor Corner for lots of great information, including resources, theme months, start with hello program information, digital citizenship, as well as tips and strategies for every day health! You don't want to miss this. Click below.
The AISD guidance theme for January is “respecting individual differences/diversity.” Students will participate in activities through our McCat choice board that celebrate unique characteristics and explore why we should dare to be different! Students will learn that our life experiences, everything we have learned and have done, are all different and help make us the person we are today. It is because we are different and unique that makes us all special and allow us to make an impact on our world and others. Students can post responses about the importance of our unique qualities on our McAnally Students Are Unique padlet.
