FAC Weekly Update
May 5, 2023
Good Morning, FAC Family
We hope that you had a terrific week!
Another week, another group of students to celebrate. We have some accolades listed below in the newsletter, and would also like to congratulate the students of the FAC Percussion Studio, Advanced Topics in Theatre Class, and Strings Chamber Music on their performances this week!
Here’s the latest from the halls of the FAC…
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
“We” is Better than “Me”
Why Teams Are Superior to Individual Effort
- Teams involve more people, thus affording more resources, ideas, and energy than would an individual.
- Teams maximize a leader’s potential and minimize their weaknesses. Strengths and weaknesses are more exposed in individuals. Leaders wear out their followers and themselves when they try to lead alone.
- Teams provide multiple perspectives of how to meet a need or reach a goal, thus devising several alternatives for each situation.
- Teams share the credit for victories and the blame for loss. This fosters genuine humility and authentic community.
- Teams keep leaders accountable for the goal.
- Teams can simply do more than an individual.
- Believers: Few people are successful unless a lot of other people want them to be.
- Achievers: You are only as good as the people around you. A “10” organization must be full of 8’s, 9’s, and 10’s
- Conceivers: Good ideas guarantee the future success of an organization. If we always do what we’ve always done, we’ll always get what we’ve always gotten.
- Relievers: Many hands make light work. Gifted hands make successful work. Complimentary hands make teams work.

Attention Rising Juniors!
Youth Leadership Greenville is now accepting applications for the 23-24 Program. Youth Leadership Greenville (YLG) is open to high school juniors in Greenville County Schools. Students apply during their sophomore year to participate in their junior year of high school. To protect instructional time as much as possible, YLG classes are typically scheduled to take place on school holidays or in the evenings. Families/students are required to provide transportation to and from locations for each of the YLG sessions. Developing our youth to serve in leadership capacities is key to the future success of our community, and this program is designed to identify potential leaders, and challenge those youth to become engaged citizens.
Current sophomores can click on the application link. The deadline to apply is May 26th.
Anti-Prom - Food Sign-Ups
Anti-Prom is just over two weeks away, and we need students who are coming to the event to complete our food sign up. We keep the cost of the dance down by having everyone chip in. You can sign up here at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d44aaa92ea2f4c43-enchanted#/
