ARISE! GET UP, GET GOING, GO WITH GOD!
Our faith theme this year is” ARISE: GO WITH GOD”!
“Mary arose, and went with haste.” Luke 1:39
Based on the scripture inspiration we are encouraged to share our faith….with excitement.
We’ve been given a gift, like Mary after receiving the Good News of the birth of God’s Son, she went with Haste. She could not keep the good news to herself. By going out she became the first Christian evangelist. She modelled faith to God’s word, and the joy of receiving the good news. She arose, with haste demonstrating that faith is an action.
Our call this year is to GO, and put faith into action by putting God at the forefront of all that we do.
Keeping In Touch
We value the importance of communication. You can expect to receive weekly “Week at a Glance” emails from the administration on Friday afternoons. As well, your child’s classroom teacher will provide you with regular updates and communication.
As a school we are committed to the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and families. Please know that your questions and feedback are always important to us and our staff are committed to responding to your emails during the work week (Monday-Friday) within a 24 hour period. We do want to ensure that your communication is not missed during the school day while our teachers are engaged with your children. We invite you to call the office if your child has an appointment, change in pick up, or any immediate concerns that may require assistance before the end of the school day. We will ensure that your child’s teacher receives the necessary information.
SCHOOL HOURS/REPORTING an ABSENCE
Parents are asked to notify the school using the SAFE ARRIVALS system when a child will be absent. Please visit our website for more info!
Keeping our Students Safe During Drop Off and Pick Up
Thanks to all parents for using the drop off zone in our parking lot! This has helped to keep our students safe and foster independence for students entering their designated entrance. Please note that our parking lot has a one-way drop off zone for parents who wish to drop off students and proceed, there is no parking in the drop off zone.
If you are walking your child to their designated entrance (ie PreK/Kinder) you are welcome to park in the parking lot. This allows for smooth traffic flow in the zone and keeps people moving. The entrance to the parking lot is the SECOND entrance and vehicles travel around to EXIT at the entrance closest to Boston Pizza.
Alternatively, you may park on the main road, Westwinds Drive, adjacent to our parking lot, and your child can use the marked crosswalk to proceed to their designated door.
Please avoid parking in the bus turnaround at the end of Westwinds Drive as our buses need this area to turn around.
NUT SENSITIVE SCHOOL
With the passing of Bill 201 – Protection of Students with Life Threatening Allergies Act, all students with a serious or life -threatening medical condition must have a form on file in the school office indicating the condition and procedure in case of emergency. To provide a safe and caring school for our students who have allergies, we require the cooperation of our families. We have students with severe life -threatening food allergies (anaphylaxis) to peanuts and all nut products. Please DO NOT send any items containing peanut butter or nut products in your child’s lunch or for classroom treats. Children with allergies requiring an epi-pen MUST carry it with them at all times. It is the parents’ responsibility to inform school of allergies and ensure that their child’s epi-pen has not expired.
School Cash Online - New System "RYCOR"
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools is pleased to advise that as of September 2022, families can now view and pay their 2022/2023 school fees through our NEW online payment portal - RYCOR - which is accessible through the Parent Portal. Effective August 31st, SchoolCash will transition to RYCOR for online payments.
With this transition to the new financial system, when parents log onto the parent portal, the changes appear to be ‘live’ but may not reflect all payments/deposits made to date or all applicable fees. This changeover should be completed on September 15th.
School fees will be posted by September 15th.
We will send a follow-up communication informing parents and guardians once the setup has been completed so that you may proceed with making school fees and other payments.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we transition to the new system.

Weekly Wellness
Confidence: A Quick Way To Help Your Child Feel It
School is in full swing, which might mean a new school, a new classroom, a new teacher, and new classmates. It can feel overwhelming for students and parents/guardians alike. Using positive words is one way we can support those feeling a little lacklustre in these new environments.
Big Life Journal has created some colourful and cheerful lunch box notes for you to place in your child’s lunch box to help uplift them in the middle of their day.
