Student Edition
Remote Learning
Just a reminder that each Friday I will share this link with parents and students. I shared it last week too. I think some students were not seeing the template and they were trying to make sense out of what was posted in Schoology. Really, students should look at both. The templates show the skill, activity and show what you know for each day. The activities, resources, and assignments are accessible through Schoology for each student.
Remember that the new templates are more structured and outline daily engagement.
The template is long and detailed but it is also broken down by Day. So please don't get overwhelmed by the entire length. Some families will want to look at the entire week at one time, while other families will only want to look at one day at a time.
Teacher Communication
One of our main focus points for our educators and students is having a “growth mindset”. A growth mindset unlocks our ability to learn and grow especially during challenging times. Little did we know how important this growth mindset would be for all of us this year! Because of this experience and our growth mindset, I believe we all will be stronger when we come out on the other side of the COVID-19 Pandemic! History is being written! We hold the pen! Together, we will write the BEST story for our children!
Grading during Remote Learning
Teachers will continue to provide feedback to students on their work and grades will now be documented as Pass or Incomplete. Teachers will be updating Schoology so that grades shown will be a P for Pass or an I for Incomplete. Comments may also be given as feedback to students next to the grade.
Incomplete will be used for students that do not submit an assignment, or only show minimal detail or effort.
Quarter Three Honor Roll
Way to go to our students earning such great grades in the third quarter.
Keep up the hard work!
Report Cards
Needless to say, that did not happen.
Many of you have likely already seen grades by viewing Schoology or Powerschool.
If you are interested in a digital report card being sent to you, our office will do that.

Zoom Guidance for Students and Parents
Millburn is taking steps on our end within the settings of Zoom to help make these live meetings as safe and secure for students as possible. Student behavior during live sessions should match that of a typical classroom.
****Allowing students to use the Zoom platform is a privilege and is safe for students to use if they follow the rules. Please monitor any Zoom conferences that your children participate in, and we strongly recommend keeping iPads out of students' bedrooms overnight.
Millburn is going to turn the Zoom App off at 5pm each night and back on at 8am.
Parents might consider to have students in the room with them anytime they are using Zoom.

School Event Planning
Fine Arts Performances, Graduation, NJHS Induction, etc, are all events that I am thinking through and plan to have a way to execute in some fashion.
Also, I am in regular communication with EPIC on the events that they have been planning. Specifically the 8th Grade Farewell Celebration. It is likely that we will have to find another date for this event.
More will be communicated in future newsletters.
Happy Birthday

PADS Says "Thank You"
Millburn worked together to prepare 12 large boxes of supplies for PADS. Each box contained 20 large zip bags of toiletry items for the clients. We also had about 20 backpacks that were also donated to PADS.
Please take a minute to read the attached thank you letter from PADS to Millburn.
