From The PFC Co-Presidents...
Happy Friday, Thunderbird families!
We know it’s almost February, but we’ll wish you a very Happy New Year since this is our first post of 2018! As you might know, it takes time, talent and money to provide the extras that our school needs to be the thriving place that it is. We appreciate all the ways that you parents give back.
We are especially appreciative of two new board members that have recently volunteered. Hans Christensen is our upper grade Member-at-Large and Rebecca Andersen just joined us as Secretary. Please join us in giving thanks to Hans and Rebecca for stepping up to fill these positions on the PFC Board!
We’re getting excited for the annual Thornhill Auction on Saturday, February 24! Have you purchased your tickets? Made a donation? Volunteered to help with the party, decorations, etc? Most especially, have you chosen your costume? We can’t wait to see all those Heroes and Villians!
Have a great weekend,
Shauna & Shanyn

Volunteers With Special Powers! Be a Hero!
Did you know that the biggest parent party of the year is not only fun to attend, but is also fun to launch? Volunteering for Thornhill's auction is a great way to get to know other families and make new friends. There's a role for every type of personality, style, and time of day. Join us in getting ready for blast-off!
Please visit this link to sign up and volunteer with whatever special powers you may have.
Who will win your class basket?
Is your child's class doing a LEGO theme class basket? Napa Wine Basket? Star Wars Basket? A Cooking/Recipe Basket? Do you know yet? Check with your room parent to get the details - You may have a great addition for your child's class basket and not even know it!
Class Baskets are a huge, exciting, and even slightly competitive part of the auction. They'll be on display in the week before - let's see which classes raise the most with these goodie filled cornucopias.
Preparation is ongoing, so please contact your room parent or the Class Basket Coordinator, Lindsey Beallo lindseybeallo@gmail.com, for more information. Thank you!

Operation Dignity
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the sock drive the third-grade girls in Girl Scouts Troop 31187 are doing to help homeless veterans! The donation box in the lobby is filling up, and the girls really appreciate it!
The troop is working with a nonprofit called Operation Dignity to collect these new socks, which will be distributed to veterans in need of help. Each year, the girls work with a local charity or organization to give back. This season, their efforts will help Operation Dignity, the Emeryville-based nonprofit with a mission to house and support veterans. New socks are among the top items on Operation Dignity's wish list; clean, dry and warm socks can help prevent frostbite and foot infections.
The collection box will be in the lobby until we wrap up the drive in the coming weeks. We hope Thornhill families can help out the troop by donating one or more pairs. Thanks for your kindness and support!!
Sincerely, Troop 31187
Zoe, Maria, Lucia, Sam, Dakota, Stella J., Stella D., Julia, Ava, and Jillian
