GJM News
October is a busy month for GJM. Accelerated Learning Week letters went out on Monday. If you have not returned the letter please return to Mrs. Davis. If you did not receive the letter your child is not required to attend. Accelerated Learning Week is Oct. 17-20 with Oct. 21st being a student holiday.
October is Principal's Month. Make sure you thank the leaders of the school. World Teacher Day is coming up. Our teachers work hard everyday for each student. Let's show them some appreciation through a thank you card or an email showing your appreciation. Your student can even write it. Also Custodian Appreciation Day is this month and our students have created door pictures in art for each custodian. We have Red Ribbon Week also in October and details will be below. Picture Day is coming soon, please be on the look out for the flyers.
We appreciate you for taking time out of your busy schedules for parent conferences. Our teachers value the time they had with each of you!

Snack vs. Treats
Hello GJM Family. Here at GJM the students have been working hard and staying
active, there is no doubt that their appetites will increase. Healthy snacks provide
nutrition that increases focus, performance and energy. The American Dietetic
Association states, children are able to comprehend and retain information presented in
the classroom at a higher rate when their bodies are fueled consistently.
What is a snack vs a treat? A snack is a mini meal that is healthy and can hold you
over when the time between meals is long. Treats tend to be less nutritious and will
generally contain more calories, sugar and fat. This may cause sugar levels to spike
and then crash causing fatigue and an increase in hunger. We all enjoy a treat
sometimes, but most days it’s best to indulge in a healthy snack.
Here are some snack ideas:
Baked Chips, string cheese, nuts and raisins, cut up veggies with hummus, fruit,
granola bars.
Also, please remember to have your child bring a bottled water to school. Water is
always a good healthy choice!
