Message from the Principal
Welcome back! As we prepare to return to school tomorrow we must all take all precautions necessary to reduce the spread and risk of contracting COVID-19. Below you will find information on where to acquire a COVID-19 test if you or a family member are experiencing symptoms. As always, please stay home if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms and also keep our little hawks at home if they experience any symptoms as well. This will help us keep our school and community safe. If at any point you are unsure of what to do please call your pediatrician. Nurse Omayra is also available for support. onieves@framingham.k12.ma.us.
Our goal is to keep everyone in school healthy and engaged in learning. You can help us by monitoring your child's symptoms every morning before sending them to school. These are the symptoms of COVID-19 to look for:
Fever 100 F or 37.7C or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
If your child has ANY of these symptoms, do not send them to school. Be sure to call your health care provider and your school nurse to let them know that your child is staying home with COVID-19 symptoms. Your child must be cleared by the school nurse to return to school.
If your child has symptoms, take the following steps:
Get your child a PCR test (preferred) or BinaxNow rapid test administered by a health-care provider.
Your child should be symptom free for 24 hours (without any fever-reducing medication) before returning to school.
Provide test results to your school nurse and wait for clearance from them to return to school.
Call your Nurse Omayra if you are unsure of what to do.
I do hope that all of of Barbieri Families were able to enjoy some much needed rest and family time as we continue to endure the effects of this global pandemic. Thank you for all of the support!
Gracias por su paciencia y apoyo,
Maria
Reducing the Spread at Barbieri School
As we return to school here are some of the changes we continue to make to ensure we are doing all we can to reduce the spread:
- We are encouraging all teachers to ensure desks are in rows.
- Disinfectant spray and paper towels will be available in classrooms to consistently wipe down surfaces.
- Hand sanitizer dispensers are available in all classroom spaces and offices to ensure frequent hand sanitizing throughout the day.
- Enforce mask wearing!!! Please ensure your child(ren) have a well fitted mask to wear to school each day. Please review the expectations of mask wearing with them at home to support our teachers. Students should be wearing masks at all times unless eating or drinking.
- Snacks will be had in the classrooms for a short period and students should be spread out across the room during this time facing the same direction. If students are finished before the time period is over they should put their masks back on.
- When traveling through the hallways we will do our best to ensure a distance.
- Teachers have completed seating charts for Nurse Omayra to have access to when completing contact tracing.
- Please be patient with the office staff, nursing and admin as we navigate through the anticipated high volume of absences with both staff and students, gracias!
- Students will continue to eat lunch and breakfast in BOTH the bistro and half of the gym to ensure a 6 ft. distance and individual desks/tables while eating.
- Air filters are placed in all office/classroom spaces and remain on all day and the filters are checked by our custodial staff.
