BAT WATCH 2020
citizen scientist opportunity to watch and count bats
April is Citizen Science Month!
Porter County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is ready to welcome the bats back to Indiana from their winter away in hibernation. We are now inviting YOU to help us keep track of the bats living and pest-controlling in Northwest Indiana. Bat Season in our region starts in April and bats depart for hibernation grounds in October. Join our new BAT WATCH 2020 data collection project through iNaturalist.org

BAT WATCH 2020
BAT WATCH 2020 is a place to collect citizen science bat sightings from northwest Indiana with the Porter County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America. Twilight on calm evenings is the best time to see bats "emerge" from their daytime resting places in trees or structures. We can start to look for them April-October, during "bat" season.
How many will you see?
We want to know about bats you see inside structures too, like attics or barns. And if you found a dead one, we're interested. Please also include in BAT WATCH 2020, or let us know, if you are doing bat call audio monitoring and uploading to NABatmonitoring.org. PCC is collaborating.
