The Waldron Weekly ‘20-‘21

SUSD Update
Dear Anasazi Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already entering mid-November. It was wonderful to experience the cooler temps this week, even if just for a few days.
EDL and SOL families were asked to make some big decisions this past week in regards to plans for Semester 2. I spoke with many of you through emails and phone calls. I know that this decision was not an easy one to make. Please know as we continue navigate this school year, I will continue to be as transparent with information as it comes my way. I truly want only the best for your children and our community at large.
Next week brings us Picture Day for our in-person learners. Individual pictures will taken with safety measures in place. Group class photos are not being taken. EDL families - we will be communicating picture information when available.
Please make sure to read updates this afternoon from SUSD and Dr. Menzel. The Covid Dashboard, linked every week below, will be published for you to see the latest updates.
Thank you for your continued support,
Ms. Waldron

At Home Escapes
Sometimes we just need a break from everything happening in our world. Some of us are not comfortable traveling with the Pandemic so here are some fun “stay-cation” ideas that are different than visits to local parks, outdoor restaurants or ordering dinner in.
Backyard Camping-Set-up a tent and get a fire pit. You can roast marshmallows, make s’mores and sing songs. Tell family stories or ghost stories late into the night. If you do not have a backyard….make a giant tent inside out of sheets and blankets. No electronics and have flashlights.
Virtual Travel-Assign family members a different city for one day during the week. Cook a local food and draw some pictures of the sites to hang in the kitchen. There are virtual tours online that are fun, beautiful and educational. I have 3 girls who especially loved this activity during our lockdown time. It became such a hit that we even tried to learn some foreign words from the city we were being educated about.
Art Vacation- Painting with a twist (PaintingWithATwist.com) will ship kits to your home. The kits come with videos to teach you how to create specific paintings.
Cooking Vacation- Now is the time to try new recipes that you have been looking at bursting out of your recipe file. There are a ton of how to online cooking videos that teach you new techniques or offer new recipes. DeliciousExperiences.com offers private, virtual culinary experiences with World class Chefs. My family started making sourdough bread that was quite the craze during lockdown. Although very yummy I was not real excited about the starter….it gets kinda yucky. But others have had tremendous success with the bread.
As difficult as this time is for all of us. It is also a time that you can explore new online adventures with your family. We have been forced to change our behaviors and “think out of our boxes”. Try to have some fun with finding new escapes. If you have ideas to share I would love to hear them.
