WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS??? Chapter 2
GROWTH ISN'T ABOUT CHANGING BUT REALLY BECOMING THE PERSON YOU ALREADY ARE INSIDE!
MIDDLE SCHOOL 101, 4th GRADE PARENT NIGHT
Any para or 6th grade teacher that would like to help as well is more than welcome to join. The more the merrier.
Parent Night is Monday, May 8th from 5:30 to 7:30.
Thank you,
Casey Hanna
DEPARTMENT PLC
I will meet with ALL Departments on Thursday, May 4th during extra recess time. Due to 4th grade visits and other meetings we will need to meet on one day. Be sure to bring your assessment binders to the PLC. It will be the topic of conversation.
Message from the Boss...
Teachers-
Count Down...
19 days until the Last Day of School
6th grade Track and Field has been rescheduled for May 5th.
We will NOT have R.E.A.L. Panther Assembly on May 5th. It has been rescheduled for May 12th.
We will have the LAST R.E.A.L. Panther Assembly on Thursday, May 18th. I want MSS to participate in Line 89 on Friday, May 19th. So be sure to communicate with students about expectations on attending Line 89. We will have a room available for those students who con not attend Line 89 if behavior is not appropriate.
**REMINDER** We have 2 R.E.A.L. Panther Assemblies left in the school year. ALL students MUST receive their R.E.A.L. Panther shirt by the end of the year.
Up-coming events to think about:
Cafeteria Appreciation- Week of May 1st
Teacher Appreciation- Week of May 8th
PTO Appreciation- Week of May 15th
Love you,
Casey Hanna
6th GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL MEETING
Final TESS Rating Meeting
During that time we will discuss PD sign-out for the 2016-2017 school year. You can begin pulling your documentation for verification off from Shoebox. Let us know if you have any questions.
We will also discuss PD for the 2017-2018 school year.
SCHOOL'S NOT OVER!
This is the time of the year that you need to really start thinking outside the box. Find creative, fun, exciting lessons that teach the standards but allows the students opportunity to EXPLORE new and creative ways.
If you need help on thinking outside the box or want to run an idea by me please let me know. I am here to help!
We have so many areas around our campus that are perfect for lessons...just to name a few:
The walking track
Outside classroom- pavilion
The back pavilion
5th grade gym
KIVA
This is not the time to show movies. Movies must be approved before showing. You can use movie clips to teach a lesson, no more than 20 minutes.
We will be looking at assessment binders soon. Get those ready! Think about how you are assessing the students. Does it have to be paper/pencil? Do you have plenty of assignments? Do you have a fair number of points for each assignment? Is it just busy work? (may not be a good time of year for busy work)
BEHAVIOR INCENTIVE "CAUGHT YOU BEING GOOD"
Beginning April 24th through May 19th, the students will have an opportunity to put their name in the bucket, jar, hat to win one of the prizes you list for your team.
This will be done as a TEAM, not as a whole building. So think of a creative way for students to put their "Caught you being good" tickets to use.
We are in the process of ordering the items and will be in soon. I have also received free passes to the Water Park and hopefully getting some free passes to Joyland Skating!
AWARDS CEREMONIES
You will need to schedule Award Ceremonies as a team. The awards ceremonies can be scheduled on May 22nd, 23rd, 24th or 25th. Please send me your date, time and location for your TEAM awards ceremony.
I am still making some final decisions about other common awards, i.e. essential class awards.
You have been given the awards certificates for:
All A's
All A's and B's
Perfect Attendance
I will not do a Presidential Award or a Principal's Award. Receiving R.E.A.L. Panther takes the place of those.
Field Trip Dates/Information
Be sure to include the bus drivers on the lunch count. They are working hard for us and we need to show our appreciation by providing a sack lunch for them. Please include them in your lunch counts.

Be sure to talk to Mrs. Dalton in the cafeteria about how you will be handling lunches for field trips.
Be sure that you have back ground checks completed on parents that you would like to use as chaperones. We have to have the background check back before we can let them know they have been selected as a chaperone. Volunteers do not have to have a background check, so they CAN NOT ride the bus or be in charge of students. Volunteers can follow the bus or meet you there.
Any questions on field trips please let me know.
