Last day for AM Kindergarten is Thursday, June 8th

End of the year celebrations will be held in the classrooms on the afternoon of Thursday, June 8th, unless otherwise indicated by your classroom teacher. Homeroom Parents will be in contact with classroom families for food and other party donations. Please contact your Homeroom Parents, directly, with questions. The office staff would not be able to answer specific questions that you may have regarding your child’s event

Report cards will be available to families on the Home Access Center (HAC) at 4:00pm on Friday, June 9th. A paper copy of the report card will be sent home with students on June 9th, as well. Please keep in mind that teacher assignments for the 2023-2024 school year for all students will be available in the Home Access Center (HAC) in mid-August.

It is with great pride that we announce that fourth grader, Mason Waas, has been named the Pennsylvania State Invest Write Champion for the 4th-5th Grade Category! This spring, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students in Mrs. Todd’s Gifted Support classes had the opportunity to participate in The Stock Market Game. The Stock Market Game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students in Grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. Over the course of several weeks, the students worked in teams to invest $100,000 in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds- in real-time! It was an incredibly valuable learning experience for all of them! Invest Write, is an innovative national writing competition, produced by The Stock Market Game, that adds a critical thinking component to help reinforce concepts learned in the classroom while participating in The Stock Market Game. This year, the writing topic was, “What are some benefits of working on a team versus on your own? Give examples from your Stock Market Game team or other examples of teamwork. Teaming up investments in a diversified portfolio also has benefits. If you could invest $10,000 now for a long-term goal, what team of investments, including stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds, would you choose and why?”. We are so proud of all of the essays that were submitted by our Hillcrest students, and are thrilled that Mason has been recognized with this great honor, being named Pennsylvania’s State Champion!

Third grade students participated in Market Day, to culminate our economics unit. During this unit, students learned about what it takes to run a successful business. We learned about overhead, supply, demand, goods, services, trading and how to sell an idea to others. During the unit, third graders had jobs in which they earned weekly salaries, bonuses and were taxed, as well. They budgeted their money and kept a check book too! Each student created a product to sell using their Market Day Funny Money. Shoppers exchanged real currency for Funny Money in order to purchase our products. We collected $518.83. All proceeds went to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital! WOW!

Student Council and especially Mrs. Schneider would like to thank everyone who participated in Pennies for Preemies. We raised about $1200 that will go towards a variety of items to help support families in the Philadelphia Area who are navigating the NICU. Miss Danko’s 3rd Class and Mrs. Clifford’s 4th grade class were rewarded the Popsicle Party by our wonderful PTO. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity.

Dear Council Rock Parents,

Please remember to pick up your child's medication by the last day of school. Per medication policy, students are not permitted to transport medications home. Any medication remaining at school after the last student day will be discarded.
