8th Graders Visit Nationwide Children's Hospital for Middle School Career Day
Eighth grade students who expressed a serious interest in the career cluster of Health Sciences traveled to Nationwide Children's Hospital for Middle School Career Day.
While there, students extracted DNA from a strawberry, viewed images from radiology, learned how to perform CPR, moved fluids through an I.V., observed symptoms of a robotic baby, viewed germs under a blacklight, and gained an understanding of how social media can be used positively to educate people on important health issues.
Our Hamilton Middle School students were engaged and offered insightful feedback to the medical staff involved in Middle School Career Day. This was an extremely valuable experience for these future Health Care workers!

HMS Reminders
General Reminders
1. Book bags, purses, fanny packs, etc MUST stay in lockers. Clear book bags and purses must also follow this rule.
2. Students may have a water bottle with them. No energy drinks, coffee drinks, etc. Drinks and food from the cafeteria for breakfast must be finished by 7:34.
3. AirPods, earbuds, headphones should not be used while in the hallways. They should only be used when teacher directed. At the end of the day, they can be used once students are on the bus, in their car, etc.
4. Make sure your child knows of their transportation arrangements each day. If a change needs to be made, please contact the school BEFORE 2:00 so we can get the message to your child.
5. Final Forms should be completed as soon as possible. They must be signed by the parent/guardian as well as the student.
Car Rider Reminders
1. Car riders should exit the building using the front doors.
2. Students should enter the vehicle once it has pulled up to the sidewalk area. If you do not see your student, please continue to move forward so we can keep the line moving.
3. Students should not be walking across the parking lot or the grassy area to get to a car that is not yet to the sidewalk. This causes a significant safety concern!
4. Drivers, please drive slowly, follow the flow of traffic and be patient!
Student safety is of utmost importance! Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines.
Athletic Event Updates
From our High School Athletic Director-
This year during home athletic events we will not allow students to bring footballs (balls) to throw before, during and after games. This has caused too many issues and is a safety concern. The football (ball) will be confiscated. All students should be seated in the stands during the athletic contest. Also, no backpacks will be permitted to any sporting events. Any student removed from a sporting event will not be allowed to return to any sporting events for the remainder of that sports season.
PBIS
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
