Letter to the Bobcat Community
Bobcat Parents and Scholars,
It is hard to believe that we are in the last marking period for this unprecedented year. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all you have done and continue to do to make sure your scholar is successful. Soon we will be in testing season and we wanted to share how we will be conducting the official STAAR tests and the End of the Year benchmark test for those scholars that will not be coming to campus to take the 2021 official STAAR exam.
This year the state will not be using the 2021 STAAR to determine placement into the next grade instead it is being given so that we can use the data to see any gaps in your child's education.
The only STAAR test that we are strongly encouraging your scholar need to come to school to take is the Algebra I EOC. This is due to the fact that these scholars must pass this test to graduate from high school.
Since the state will not allow scholars to take the official test from home, any scholar that does not come to campus will be taking an End of the Year Benchmark test online at home on the same day their peers take the 2021 test. We are asking that you explain to your child the importance of doing their best so that we will know how to help them next year.
The dates for the 2021 STAAR and EOY Benchmark are as follows:
2021 STAAR Schedule
1. Writing will be Tuesday, April 6th Makeup on April 7th (might need another)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Socorro ISD has developed a list of questions and answers to openly share information and proactively answer questions regarding students and employees returning to school and work for the 2020-2021 school year. We know our stakeholders have many questions, and we will do our best to answer all in a timely manner, but we ask for your patience as our team continues to work through the many issues that must be addressed. Rest assured that we will update this list and communicate with you often as information becomes available and as we seek additional guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas Education Agency (TEA) and local health and government officials.
