Back to School Edition #readytofly

A Note from Mrs. Phillips

It's finally time to say goodbye to the long summer nights and hello to the alarm clock! Our staff is eagerly awaiting your arrival and have been diligently preparing for this school year. We are excited to welcome you but also want to remind you of a few new safety features that will be in place on day 1.

Arrival:

Arrival is a busy time. Please read through these directions and use caution when dropping off your students. Our gym door will open at 7:30 a.m. Please do not arrive any earlier, as we do not have staff available for supervision prior to this time.

Car Riders

If your child is coming to school by car in the mornings, please drive northbound on 225 West and pull into the drop off lane by the gym door. Let your child out of the car, on the passenger side, and proceed to 225 W. Please do not get out of your car, we will have staff, every morning, to assist you.

If you approach the school, headed South on 225 W, please go past the drop off lane and turn around. This will allow all families dropping off in the mornings to enter the lane going in the same direction. DO NOT TURN LEFT INTO THE DROP OFF LANE. This holds up traffic and is not safe. Please give the right away to all buses, this helps keep them on schedule.

Bus Students

All bus students will come into the building at 7:35 and walk to the gym. They will be dismissed to their classrooms at 7:45. Teachers will be at their classroom doors greeting them as they enter.

Dismissal:

Our new dismissal time is 2:30. There is a slight change from last year. We will now dismiss the buses first. The car line will begin at the first entrance to FCE. THIS IS A CHANGE! We will not begin dismissing car riders until 2:30. Please do not block any parking spots or neighbor driveways. We will have a sign indicating where you may begin your car pick-up line. Again, I encourage you not to enter the line until closer to 2:30. Students will now be dismissed from the front door. If you need access to the office, you may easily park in the front without the interruption of the car line.

We now have QR codes in place. If you need more, please call the office. If you requested a sign at supply drop off, we will hand them to you on day 1, in line. We will also have deputy support the first few days to help all of us learn the new traffic pattern and flow. Please do not get out of your car for any reason. If you need to buckle your child, please pull into the driveway beyond the car rider line and assist them at that time. Our adults will also be ready to assist with this duty.

**In order for your child to be picked up by a car, the teacher should have a note from home that will be kept in the office. Initial transportation was established at supply drop off or via messaging with your child's teacher. If your child rides a bus, they will need to provide a note or phone call to the office for ANY change to take place. Thank you for your understanding. **

We ask that all transportation changes are arranged by 2:00 p.m. It is imperative that you call our office BEFORE 2:00 if you need alternative arrangements for your child. Please try to keep this at a minimum. Consistency for your child is important. We understand there are times that changes need to be made and will do everything we can to accommodate these changes. Please do not rely on your teacher receiving a message during the day for these changes-they must go through the office. 765-825-6261.

Again, safety is the top priority and your child’s day begins and ends with transportation. We will review bus rules with all students during the first week of school. Together, we will establish a safe and orderly arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your patience the first few days as our students’ and teachers learn their new schedules. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office or send an email to kphillips@fayette.k12.in.us.

I will always send out a monthly newsletter to all families. Please follow our social media channels and update your email in powerschool in order to stay engaged in your child's learning. One of the best ways you can provide feedback and share innovative ideas for our school is to join our PTO. We ideally would like a parent from each room to step up to help our teachers and school with culture, support, and events. If that sounds like something you would like to do, please let me know. Mrs. Evans has been a great support so far but I'm sure she would love the extra help! Stay tuned for information from PTO in our first Thursday folder.

I applaud you if you've made it this far! I try to keep things brief and to the point and safety must take priority not only at the beginning of the year but throughout. Please don't forget to always have your license on hand if you visit the building for our Raptor protocol. Also, if you would like to volunteer, you must have a new background check on file. Please let your teacher know if you need this form.

I can't wait to meet your family! I am proud to serve you and look forward to the connections and relationships we will create over the next year. For now, just know we are #readytofly!
