College Campus Visits- Open to All Grades
Thanks to the grant funding from the EducationQuest Foundation, the MSHS Counseling Center will offer a limited number of campus visits during the 2019-20 school year. Please encourage your students to take advantage of these opportunities as the funding for these visits will not be available next year! Lunch and t-shirts are provided!
Transportation is by bus. Permission slips are available in the MSHS Counseling Center. Seats are filled on a first come, first served basis. Students must be passing classes to attend.
Creighton University- November 5th 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Creighton University is a private, Jesuit university in downtown Omaha. Approximately 4,200 undergraduate students attend Creighton. Creighton’s incoming class of 2019 had an average G.P.A between 3.6 and 4.0 and an ACT score range between 24 and 30. Creighton competes in NCAA Division I athletics in the Big East Conference. Iowa Western Community College - November 14th from 8:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
Iowa Western Community College is located in Council Bluffs Iowa. Iowa Western has over 100 different academic programs. Iowa Western also offers on-campus housing. Men's sports at Iowa Western include baseball, basketball, soccer, wrestling, cross country, golf, shotgun sports, track & field, bowling and football. Midland University- November 20th 9:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Midland University is located in Fremont, NE and offers 30+ undergraduate programs. Midland’s current enrollment is 1,300 students. Midland’s 4-Year Graduation Guarantee assures students meeting basic requirements will graduate within four years. The University has 11 varsity athletics programs, 12 junior varsity teams, and expanded to more than 250 opportunities in the performing arts. Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium Zoo Academy Tour
On November 8th, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium Zoo Academy will be hosting a morning and afternoon tour for prospective students. During the tour, students will have the opportunity to see Zoo Academy classrooms and job shadowing areas throughout the Zoo. In addition, prospective students will meet current Zoo Academy students, teachers, and Zoo Education staff to learn more about the program. If you are interested in applying for Zoo Academy for the 2020-2021 school year, we encourage you to attend one of these tours. Please register in advance for a tour time.
This year, students will apply online using the link below. Applications are due November 22, 2019. We will not accept paper applications. A Google account is not necessary to complete the form; however, a valid email address is required. Google will send an email once the application has been submitted, which will allow the student to edit their responses or add new information. Please note, any information entered into the form will not be saved until it is submitted. For this reason, we have attached a pdf of the application to this email, so students know what to prepare.
Zoo Academy Student Application
Interviews will take place on Friday, December 6th at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. More detailed information on the interview process will be provided shortly.
