What is depression
Depression is a mental illness that can occur for both short and long periods of time. It makes you feel miserable, hopeless, and negative about every. It also makes you have self-hate and guilty, and anyone can get it.
How does affect people
It can affect anyone. Anyone who is going through any sad times in their life is likely to get depression even if its minor or major depression. Minor depression can last from one to three weeks and major depression can last from four to eight months. 6.7% of Americans suffer from depression each year, that's over 25 million Americans.
Symtoms of depression
Some of the symptoms include feeling helplessness, hopelessness, loss of interest, appetite or weight change, sleep changes, anger or irritability, loss of energy, self-hate, reckless behavior, changes in behavior, and/or suicidal thoughts.
How is it diagnosed
If you have any symptoms of depression you should speak your doctor or a counselor about depression. Or you could take an online depression test for at least a week.
How is it treated
Depression can be treated; you can take medication your doctor gives you, you can take group therapy, and/or do exercises.

If depression is left untreated it may get worse or make other medical conditions harder to treat. Sometimes it can lead to suicidal thoughts .
What to do if you think you have depression
If you think you have depression you should see your doctor. You can also see a social worker, a counselor, a therapist, or a chiropractor.
