Biography:
Charlotte E. Ray was born January 13, 1850 in New York City, New York. Ray died January 4, 1911 in Woodside, New York. She grew up with six other siblings. Ray's father was in a movement to cease racism and slavery.
She graduated from Howard University of Law (1872)
She earned her law degree in 1872. She was considered an "atp scholar".
She was the first women admitted to the District of Columbia Bar (1872)
The District of Columbia bar has access to justice, improves the legal system and empowers lawyer to accomplish their goals.
Joined the National Association of Colored Women (1885)
Ray was also involved in the women's suffrage movement at this time.
