Bullpup Bulletin
Week of May 29th, 2023
Mission - Cultivate relationships. Empower individuals. Inspire growth.
Vision - East Albemarle Elementary School will educate, inspire, and empower every child to achieve their greatest academic and personal potential.
Thank you ...
Since there are no make ups, we will run a regular AMP / Encore schedule on Tuesday, with the exception of the 5th grade block. See the next section below for additional details.
I will be administering an EOG assessment to one student in my office on Tuesday starting immediately following announcements. The administration of this test should not impact anyone else's schedule for the day.
5th Grade / AHS Track Team Convo - May 30th
As many of you have already heard, our Albemarle High School ladies track team recently broke records at the state championship! They are excited to share their success with others and are coming to visit our 5th graders on Tuesday, May 30th. They want to motivate our students to try their best and demonstrate great behavior.
This conversation will take place in the media center at 2:45 on Tuesday. All AMP / Encore teachers should be present to assist with monitoring students. If the conversation ends before 3:35, we will resume a (shortened) AMP / Encore class.
Tuesday Folder - May 30th
- Classroom work samples with a standards-based rubric attached for specific feedback.
EOG Testing Plans
Click here to review our EOG testing plans. Page 2 of this document contains a calendar with links for each testing day. These links are for daily testing plans. ALL STAFF should review the plans to note when / where their assistance is needed.
If you have questions, or see errors or omissions, please let me know as soon as possible.
Staff attendance is SUPER important on these days, and everyday. We will need every adult in the building to assist with implementing our plans on the scheduled test days and makeup days.
DESSA EOY Ratings
DESSA EOY ratings are due soon for all students. Homeroom teachers should access the Aperture portal and complete the ratings by May 29th.
What do you need to do?
- Login to Aperture Education
- Complete the DESSA full for each child that had the same assessment (DESSA full) completed at MOY
- Email Kym Melton if you experience technical difficulties or cannot rate a student because they are not on your roster.
Keep in mind ...
- Set aside a specific time to do this so you can rate students accurately.
- Stick to the facts. Postpone a child's observation by a day or so if you feel that you cannot objectively rate them at this time.
These ratings will be used to measure our progress toward meeting social emotional learning goals during the current year, and will provide data to set goals for the 2023-2024 school year. Thank you for taking the time to accurately rate our students!
Yearbooks
End-of-Quarter Reports
I am sharing information for end-of-quarter reports a bit early to give you time to complete them, considering many will be involved in EOG testing soon, along with other fun events like awards celebrations, merit events, and much more!
As a reminder, the following documents will need to go home with students on June 9th:
- Q4 Standards-based report card - Edit your document(s), but do not relocate from this Google Folder.

Mrs. Grant has served as a tutor at East Albemarle since January, and has done a wonderful job with our students! She has maintained a very consistent schedule during this time, has focused on student data, addressed standards, and provided love and guidance. Her last day with us will be Tuesday, May 30th; I cannot thank her enough for her time and dedication to East students. Mrs. Grant, I hope you enjoy a restful summer! I will look forward to seeing you back and East Albemarle sometime soon! :)
Thank you to each of you for all you did to ensure the first day of EOG testing went super smooth! I appreciate your attention to testing plan details, encouragement for students, and calmness throughout the day!
