Ivan Green News
May 12, 2023
Welcome from Mr. Hiley
Dear IG Families:
Thank you to all our Ivan Green families for the support for Teacher Appreciation Week. We enjoyed the snacks that were pushed around the school. It was a big hit! Thank you for the generous donations.
Next week I will be visiting many classrooms to remind students of expected behavior during their recess time. We are seeing an increase in spring-fever behavior: being inappropriately physical, teasing, and some social conflict. I would appreciate any support you can lend at home to remind your Ivan Greener about productive ways to solve peer conflict.
We are still accepting parent input for placement. Please share your thoughts in email by June 1. My direct email is Lucas_Hiley@eastiron.monroe.edu.
Sincerely,
Lucas Hiley. Ed.D.

May DEI Meeting: Previewing Our New Elementary ELA Curriculum
Next Meeting: May 24 at Laurelton Pardee
East Irondequoit's educators believe that literacy is a fundamental human right and the gateway to learning and lifelong success. That's why East Irondequoit will be implementing a new elementary ELA curriculum starting in the Fall of 2023. In this May 24 session you will have the opportunity to learn how and why this curriculum was selected and will engage in a process to analyze its cultural responsiveness. You will have the opportunity to discuss the curriculum with teachers who were early adopters and learn about its impact. If you're a parent, you will learn more about how to support your child's literacy development at home. The meeting will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Laurelton-Pardee Cafeteria.
