OCD, What is it?
It is a disorder that is categorized in the DSM, as an anxiety disorder. The disorder causes obsessive and or, compulsive behaviors, thought, or feelings. Some things can be your phobias, being a clean freak, or repetitively doing something.
Symptoms
- Negative thoughts or images
- Repetitive behavior, patterns, or paranoia
- Obsessive symptoms normally revolve around your thoughts where as compulsive symptoms are geared more towards your actions, such as cleanliness, wanting reassurance or even following strict routines.
Reasons
The main reason most people have repetitive behaviors is to distract them from the thoughts or feelings they have. they use it as a way to feel as if they don't have the problem anymore, when they are actually just doing something else that is a problem.
Diagnosis/ Prognosis
You can diagnosed through a physical exam, lab test, or psychological evaluation, which will examine your feelings, and behaviors. you must also meet the criteria set forth by the American Psychiatric Association, who makes the DSM.(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental disorders) OCD is a longterm disorder, and treatment can help.
How do I treat this?
The best way to treat this that experts have come up with id Cognitive behavior therapy, which uses exposure, response prevention. That is basically where they use examples of things that you do, and help you find ways to adjust what you do to make it better.
every situation of OCD can be different, there is no "normal."

- Some experts from the UK are even wanting it to be removed from the anxiety disorder category in the DSM. Which remember was published by the American Psychiatric Association.

People such as Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Megan Fox, and Justin Timberlake, have lived with OCD for most of there lives.
