MASKS
Masks are part of the REQUIRED dress code this year for ALL SCHOLARS. Each grade will have different guidelines. Please see below:
ALL GRADES: Masks must be worn during drop off, pick up, and in common areas (such as hallways and restrooms).
Grades PreK-2nd: Masks must be worn and kept around the neck with a lanyard or eye glasses lanyard. The school will provide a lanyard for students who need one. Families must provide their own mask, and they must follow the appropriate dress code. Students will wear masks as much as possible in the class, although we understand that the younger the child, the harder it may be. Teachers will use discretion and caution in keeping masks on or off for our younger students. If a parent has a request for their scholar to keep their mask on all day, please discuss that with your homeroom teacher. The teacher will do his/her best, but please note that they are not required to wear masks in class all day, everyday.
Grades 3rd and up: All students in grades 3rd and up will be required to wear their masks all day, even in the classroom. Students will be socially distanced in desks, apart from each other, so there may be times when masks may be pushed down, especially if the class is talking or hot (such as after PE), but all instances of masks being pushed down will be at the teacher discretion and only if students are socially distanced.
All grades will be allowed to remove the masks when eating. All grades will be allowed to push masks off the face (around the neck) when playing or participating in PE.
MASK REQUIREMENTS
1. Masks must be solid color (any color), or be school appropriate. Any masks with Catholic patterns will be accepted (Jesus, Mother Mary, crosses, etc). Masks with small, simple, NON DISTRACTING designs, such as hearts, rainbows, or holiday themed masks will also be accepted. Designs that are distracting or morbid or crude will not be allowed, such as but not limited to, skeletons (even for Halloween), guns, drugs, video games, etc. will not be allowed. When in doubt, wear a solid color (any color). The teacher and the principal reserve the right to remove and replace any mask that is not deemed school appropriate.
2. Masks must be worn as outlined. They must fit snuggly against the face and cover the nose and the mouth.
3. Please wash masks EVERY NIGHT or wear a new mask everyday.
The school will provide ONE solid color mask for each scholar on the first day of school. It will be either light blue, navy, black, red or white depending on the size. This mask is for your scholar to keep and does not need to be returned. Scholars are expected to use this mask in the event that they cannot find a school appropriate mask of their own.
Scholars do not need to wear the same mask everyday. Clean masks must be worn daily however. Any questions regarding masks, please ask your homeroom teacher.
