OLMP Catholic School
Weekly Bulletin - September 3, 2021
LEADERSHIP MESSAGE
(UPDATE Sept 3/2021 2:45pm) We recently received a masking expectation update from Elk Island Catholic Schools. This update is in response to the recent Government of Alberta announcement:
Effective Tuesday, September 7th 2021, EICS will be requiring all students and staff to wear a mask in all common areas, hallways, foyers, lunchrooms, libraries, and in areas where social distancing is not possible. Masks may be removed in classrooms when students are seated. There will be circumstances in which individuals will be eligible for mask accommodations or exemptions. This would include:
persons who are unable to place, use or remove a non-medical face mask (i.e. developmental and or physical reasons)
a medical condition or disability (i.e. mental or physical) Anyone unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition will require a medical exemption letter from an authorized health professional.
Welcome back! Our staggered start days were very beneficial in getting our year up and going and we got through our first full day today. Our students did very well and it's great to have them all back in the building. There will be a few kinks to work out as we make our way through a new schedule in a new school year. We will do our best to keep you updated on significant changes throughout the year. Your child's teacher will be a great support for questions as well. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions of clarification.
OLMP Administration

NO PICK-UP/DROP-OFF FROM STAFF PARKING LOT OR BUS LANE
Dear Parents,
Please make alternate plans for pick-up/drop-off location as our Staff parking lot is no longer available as an option. This area has become far too congested in the past and is an extreme OH&S concern. REMINDER:Please follow the flow of traffic in the Student parking lot on the South side of our building. Alternatively, please also look at streets/locations (other than alleys) that are close to our school where students can safely access our school site. While we understand that this takes away some convenience, we are more concerned about the safety of your children.
****PLEASE STAY CLEAR FROM BUS LANES AT THE BEGINNING OF OUR DAY AND AT THE END OF OUR DAY*****
Thank you for you attention to this.
DEMOGRAPHIC CONFIRMATION & YEARLY CONSENT FORMS
Please take a few minutes to complete your child's Demographic Confirmation Forms, Medical Forms and all Yearly consents (FOIPP, tech use, field trips) on PowerSchool. Having the most up-to-date information about our students ensures that we receive all available funding to support your child's learning - and that we have current information to reach you during the day if necessary. Please contact the office at 780-672-2975 if you have any questions. Thank you for completing these forms ASAP

INTRO FROM FATHER KRIS SCHMIDT
Hello parents! I’m sure you’re wondering about the celebration of the Sacraments for your children…
For those who were prepared last year but missed out on the celebration, we’re frantically trying to get things in order to do all of that before the end of September. Stay tuned to your emails for more details soon.
For children turning 7 or older this year you will be preparing for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion. For children turning 12 or older this year you will be preparing for Confirmation. Look to the school newsletter and the parish bulletin in the new year of when and how to register for that.
Have a blessed school year!
Fr. Kris
