A Note from the FMS Administrative Team

Dear FMS Families,

It has been amazing to have students back in the building! We are very pleased with how smoothly our Eagles have transitioned into a new school year, especially with over 850 new students joining us here at Frontier! They have been embracing the change and adapting quite well. Routines have quickly been established, and student engagement in learning has been evident across our building. We know how much you, as families, play a role in this success, so thank you for your continued support and collaboration.

We are eager to open our doors to our FMS families on Thursday, September 8, for our annual open house. This event serves as an opportunity for families to see the school, meet our staff, and learn a bit about the grade level content. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Student Dress Code and Electronics Reminders

As we settle back into a routine, we want to remind families of two important items:

Student Dress Code (WSD Policy 2651)

Students shall observe modes of dress and standards of personal grooming that align with the educational environment and necessary to maintain an orderly and safe atmosphere for all students. Apparel is expected to conform to reasonable student standards of modesty, and as such, no excessive or inappropriate areas of skin or under garments may be exposed. No apparel or grooming is permitted that has the potential to incite conflict and violence, including, but not limited to gang-related messages, hate/bias symbols, sexually explicit, vulgar, violent messages, or advocating illegal activities. Further, no clothing or personal grooming that disrupts, or can be forecasted to disrupt, the educational environment is permitted.

Electronic Use (WSD Student Misconduct and Disciplinary Consequences)

Cell phones and headphones are not to be visible, audible, or in use while at school from the time a student arrives to school prior to classes commencing to the time the student is dismissed from classes unless a teacher gives a student permission to utilize the device while in class. Items may be used on the way to and from school, after school and at activities or athletic events or with teacher/principal approval. Devices in this category should otherwise be turned off during the school day. Students who bring electronic items to school do so at their own risk and are responsible to secure the item from theft or loss. If a student brings a device and it is visible and/or in use during the school day, the student is subject to consequences. Students who violate this expectation and guideline will have their electronic device confiscated.

Laser pointers are not allowed at any time. Possession of a laser pointer will result in a consequence.

Compass Health Network Dental Health Screenings

On Thursday, September 29, Compass Health Network will be at FMS to perform oral health screenings and fluoride treatments. This service, which is free of charge, is strictly optional and will only be performed with the submission of a permission slip. All students may participate. Permission slips can be downloaded or obtained in the Nurse's Office. We request that permission slips be submitted to the Nurse's Office or Main Office by Tuesday, September 27.
