Our Path to First Choice No. 33
"Educate and Empower Students for Future Success"
Our Path to First Choice No. 33 April 20, 2022
Here's Our Path note for this week. Thank you for all you do for our learners!

Our Path Note Topic
The key to our success will be developing our learning system that intermingles and integrates the three major pillars of the Career, Academic and Whole Child. As we all know, with out one or the other, First Choice may be a challenge.
Our task is to develop our teaching to be able to improve all three pillars for each child. Some will need more in one area than another, but that is why it is so unique and personal to each child.

Can you answer this?
Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Catherine Myers. If you need something done and done well, Catherine Myers can and probably already did it. One can't begin to list the ways she has helped learners and learning facilitators. She is an "unofficial" and official mentor to many new learning facilitators. Environthon, Go Girls Go, climate committee, virtual instruction and the list continues with how she helps out whatever the situation. She was in charge of planning, organizing, and implementing the Franklin County Science Fair. Oh yes, she also facilitates learning every day! Catherine goes above and beyond very quietly and unassumingly.
Please join us as we congratulate Catherine Myers as this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
Moving First Choice Ahead--Share with Tod
A third grade teacher shared this about continuing the career fair experience learners had a couple of weeks ago. A big thank you to the teacher who shared this. You are part of moving First Choice Ahead!!
The Career Fair--The learners loved the rotations and were engaged and asked questions. When we returned, we discussed the various options presented and each learner shared the career that resonated with them the most. Further, they had to share WHY that career appealed to them. Then, we logged into Smart Futures and completed several lessons to dig deeper into their personal choices and career options.
We always discuss college and trade schools and talk about which careers require them. In addition, we always explore options that do not require college or trade school.
I encourage them to think about the talents and skills they have and are passionate about and figure out a way to make money using them. That way, their job will never feel like work.
Challenge Answer
An Act 80 Day has been established as a tool for school districts to provide professional development for their staff. Schools may use as many Act 80 Days as they want providing the district has enough student instructional hours--elementary 900 hours and secondary 990 for the school year.
