Our Path Note Topic
The Academic Pillar has witnessed the completion of the Secondary Curriculum Audit, Elementary Curriculum Review, and the creation of the Template for the Abre Curriculum App. Currently, WASD is in progress of curating its curriculum and preparing for Curriculum Camp for this summer. Next up, WASD will be housing its curriculum in one place, revising curriculum as needed/appropriate, and connecting MTSS to curriculum.
The Career Pillar work group has completed the introduction of John Holland's Career Personality Types and attended the state careers conference. Right now, the team is planning a K-2 and 3-5 :Elementary Career Fair. Soon, the team will be aligning essential skills, Career Personality Types, and Career Ready expectations. In addition, they will be developing Learner Portfolio Options in Abre Student 360.
The Whole Child Pillar has researched and presented 16 Habits of Mind to the staff. It has completed the Climate Survey across WASD, and explored platforms and tools for a K-12 curriculum. The pillar is currently working through a leadership transition, reviewing the Climate Survey Data dna making school-based action plans. Also, they are identifying WASD needs as highlighted in the surveys. Soon, the team will be aligning the 16 Habits of mind, TEAMology, and other tools for disposition and habits to the MTSS Framework. Finally, they will be developing Learner Portolio Options in Abre Student 360.
AnytimeAnywhere and TRAiIL--The First Choice Leadership Team has combined the Anytime and Anywhere Learning team with the TRAiIL team to focus on Learning. So far, this team has established the First Choice Virtual Instruction Program (WASD online cyber school) and had a successful second year. It has inventoried tools in use across WASD by grade level and department, and gathered feedback from teachers about instructional practices currently in use. At this time, the team is piloting innovative instruction and learning across grades K to 5, organizing tech tools by strategy, and implementing technology to accelerate learning in the traditional classroom (Tech Specialist). In the not to distant future, this team will be creating WASD instructional strategies and routines, finalizing processes for instructional technology support, revising FCVIP vision and planning for 2022/23, and creating onboarding events for new learners and staff.
Communication is the WASD team that is focused on building two-way communication with stakeholders. They have established the First Choice Staff CVhannel with weekly posts. The are currently working on a Logo redesign to reflect team revisions and overall vision. Finally, the team will be creating the First Choice Family Channel with weekly and monthly posts.
In next week's Path Note, we will share the Potential Timeline for the coming year of Our Path to First Choice.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Sara Gsell. Sara is a learning support teacher at Mowrey Elementary. At the beginning of the year she started as one of our mainstream LS teachers. Due to the unexpected loss of one of the building's Autistic Support teachers, Sara stepped in to assist with coverage. Througout this transition she has remained positive and focused on providing the best environment for all the affected learners. She has embraced the role of an Autistic Suport teacher going abouve and beyond to develop and build her skills with the VBMAPP program and ABA protocols. She was quick to build a positive rapport and relationship with the learner, classroom staff, and parents.
Congratulate Sara for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
